I let Nathan show me around and discovered he was very popular with the ladies.
They all wanted to get closer and Nathan also wanted to go ahead and meet them but I dragged him back.
I was sure he knew the name of every single girl in the company but I was shocked to hear him say he had a girlfriend. It was unbelievable and my face told him that.
"Hey, I'm sincere and also faithful!" My jaws dropped. Who in their right senses would believe that? "Hey, that hurts my feelings." He said. "I may look like a pervert but trust me, I wouldn't dare to cheat."
I thought for a while. This sort of guy was faithful, so why exactly did my family break up again?
"Do you love her?" I asked which surprised him and also myself. A question like that, coming from a girl like me, I know, it's hard to believe. He smiled.
"Yes, I do!" He answered
"Well, will you marry her since you love her?" I asked further. I wanted to know so badly because, topics concerning love were very very, important to me.
I looked at him like I would kill him if he answered wrongly. This of course, he found strange.
"Tasha, what's with you? I didn't expect you to be so interested with this topic. What, did you get your heart broken?" He asked clearly trying to shift the topic to me.
I opened my mouth to say something but didn't utter a word. I paused my lips and looked away.
"Just...forget I said anything." I said and checked the time. There was twenty minutes left. "I'll go ahead!" I left, heading straight for the elevator. I pushed the button and got in. I stared at him as the elevator doors closed. I bet he must have been confused.
Once the elevator doors were closed, I bit my bottom lip, trying not to cry.
Sure I got my heart broken, but it wasn't by a boy, it was my parents. A tear rolled down my cheek and I quickly wipped it off.
"These damn tears won't leave me alone. Fucking emotions!" I cursed and punched the elevators wall really hard. My knuckles didn't break but I was sure they were bleeding under my gloves but I didn't care. They would heal in a couple of days anyway.
Time was up and I needed to report to Oscar's office. I knocked and got a response. He was still sitting behind his laptop when I walked in.
He looked fully engrossed with what he was doing and I didn't want to interrupt. He waved me off to sit down for a while. I felt nervous as I quietly went to sit.
'I thought he said he would be done in two hours' I thought and took a peek at him. His working expression was to die for. 'He's such a good looking guy' I couldn't help but feel attracted. This was the first, no second guy that made me feel...shy.
My cheeks were tainted with a light shade of red and my heart beat kept increasing and pounding loudly.
I was scared he would hear it, so I quickly looked away while trying to calm myself down.
'Calm down Tasha' I kept telling myself but I just couldn't resist. I turned to peek one last time but this time, I met his eyes; they were definitely brown not black.
His sharp piercing gaze didn't make me shiver or flinch this time but instead, it felt different.
"This kid, you've been staring at me since you walked in. Is there something you want to say?" He asked
'Oh no, he caught me' I avoided his gaze feeling guilty and scratched my face with my right index finger. "Um, no, not exactly!"
"Then, is there something on my face?" He further asked
"No, no! Your face is perfect!" I blurted out without thinking and he raised an eyebrow at me. He must've thought I was weird.
"My face is... perfect?" He looked at me expectant.
"That's not what I meant. Your face is pretty no, handsome... No, your face is..."
"Enough!" He slammed his hand on the desk which frightened me a bit. He looked mad, why? It was just a compliment.
I suddenly recalled what Nathan warned me about.
'Damn, Nathan told me to be careful with my words. Am I in trouble now?"
"Do I look like a joke to you?"
"No, not at all!" I shook my head
"Then how is it so easy for you to mock me?" He glared at me and I could feel those eyes of his, pierce into my soul.
Though I was scared, I took in a deep breath, stood up and walked up to him.
"I really didn't intend to mock you and I didn't, but honestly..." I couldn't help but smile. What exactly was up with me today? "...your face is indeed perfect!" I said but his gaze didn't lighten up, so I added. "Your looks are extraordinary, I'm pretty sure you've heard it a bunch of times so let's not work ourselves up for this, please!?" It didn't seem like a plea but I hoped he'd see it as such. Silence fell on us.
"Boy, why do your eyes look so much like that of a girl?" He asked breaking the silence but seriously? After all that, that was the only thing he could come up with?
And what was it about my eyes being that of a girls'? Was that the only thing about me that was similar to a girl to him?
"Yes! You look like a girl with those eyes!" He said and my eyes twitched. Whoever said I wasn't? I sighed
"It is what it is!" I stated while shrugging my shoulders.
"Let's get going. Get prepared to face danger!"
"Don't worry boss, where there's danger, there's Dale!" I grinned with confidence. After this, I'd be two million rich, wasn't that great?
We set off immediately and arrived at the underground garage, where our enemies were lurking in wait for us. A question came to mind, and I decided to ask against all odds.
"Um, boss?" I called "I don't mean to sound rude but I gotta ask. You've never met me before, how are you so nonchalant about putting your life in my hands? Do you trust me already?" I asked and he answered immediately.
"I don't trust you, but I trust Nathan. I'm sure he has a good reason for hiring you." What he said made sense. "By the way, do you know how to fight?" He asked and I nodded "Good, because I won't save you!"
'Save me? What did he...' my unfinished question was immediately answered when I caught sight of a few guys approaching with confident grins, which I was pleased to wipe off with my fist. "Am I fighting these guys?"
"Are you scared? If you are then it's not too late to ..."
"Tch!" I interrupted him. These guys were a piece of cake. I could even handle guys twice their size.
In less than 3 minutes, I had them all on the floor, moaning in pain. Oscar, who had been watching without action, looked at me a bit impressed.
"I see you're not just a little boy!" He said.
"I'm 23!" I pointed out matter of fact
"You don't look like it." He said and I felt my head steam. Why didn't he say these earlier? Where was I going to let off the steam now? "Let's go!"
I watched him as he walked towards the car. I took hold of one of the guys leg and twisted it. That did the trick.
"What a bunch of weaklings. You call yourselves assassins yet, you couldn't even scratch a little girl. Tch, pity!" I hurried on to catch up with Oscar. He got in the back seat and I took the stearing wheel.
'My God!' I thought as my fingers swept along the controls. The car was so cool. It gave out that rich scent. The seats were made out of pure black leather and the stearing wheel was covered in leather as well. The feeling of driving this sort of car was awesome. Rich people enjoyed all the good things life had to offer, I was so jealous.
"If you're done feeling the car, then drive!" Oscar ordered and that made me a little bit embarrassed. I was caught again.
"Where to, boss?" I asked as I turned on the engine
"Lions Estate!" He said and I set the GPS to Lions Estate.
'Jeeze, that's where most of the expensive houses are built. I even heard there was a house worth a billion. Why would a house need to cost that much? It's just a house, or was it made out of gold?' I thought as I drove out of the garage.
I was driving happily and enjoying the moment when the biker gang showed up. At least, that's what I call em, it's fun.
I looked at the side view mirror. Behind us were two cars and three bikes. The bad guys really knew their stuff. They chose to come out when we were at the lonely route to the estate. The estate was still a few miles away, so whatever happened at this point wouldn't be their business.
I grinned at the fun ahead and looked at the rear view mirror to see my boss sitting silently with a calm expression. He didn't look like someone who was about to die.
"Hang in there boss, the ride is about to get...bumpy!" I hit the accelerator and turned the car around. A little mistake would cause us to somersault but I knew what I was dealing with and had everything under control.
Some of the guys behind us couldn't keep up and lost their balance, causing them to get off the road terribly. Instead of heading towards the estate, where it was safe, I decided to take these guys for a little spin.
Oscar didn't do or say anything to stop me, so I took it as a go ahead signal. I was mad while driving but my mind was sane. The ones who were truly mad, were the ones who blindly followed me. I hit the accelerator and increased speed, moving the gear however I wanted. My hand speed was incredible so there was no way I would lose control of the car.
Unknowingly to the guys behind me, I was headed for a cliff. Oscar saw this and yelled.
"Have you gone mad?"
"Not yet boss, just sit tight." I charged for the edge with full speed until the moment was right. My pursuers followed blindly and I snickered. As soon as it got to the spot I wanted, I quickly turned the car around.
The pursuers were confused to see me charging at them, and as I passed inbetween them, they quickly made advances to turn but it was too late. Just like that, the cars and bikes flew off the cliff.
"Woo hoo!" I exclaimed loudly. I felt hyper. "Those goons are hell stupid!" I laughed and forgot I was in the car with my boss.
"You'll block my eardrums." He said and I gasped.
"Ops, sorry boss." I said and focused on the driving. I looked at the rear view mirror and saw him sigh while massaging his forehead. Even if he didn't say it, I knew it. He was scared at the time.
I wondered for a while why he didn't just hire professional bodyguards to keep him safe but, I simply brushed it aside. He must have had his reasons. Besides, as long as I got paid, none of that, was my business.
