Chapter 29

The proceedings of Alex's parents' funeral started and ended in a flash.

I stood beside him all through.

One reason was because I didn't know anyone and another was because I felt his pain.

A few months later, Alex was no longer around like he used to. He'd spend most of his time at work.

Since his parents died, all the work had been transferred to him. I had nothing to do so I just stayed at my blooming garden, watching the flowers on my swing and sometimes, read a book.

Dad was always at work and so was Alex, what was a jobless girl like me supposed to do? Sometimes, I'd call up Nathan and get him to spend the rest of the day with me, even if he had tons of work on his hand. But most times, he'd refuse because Oscar would skin him alive.

So, there I was, sitting on my swing with my phone at hand and a headphone, covering my ears. I was completely oblivious about what was going on around me, then suddenly, someone snatched my phone.
