A few days later, while playing video games with Jordan, I got a text from Nathan asking me to meet him at a kareoke bar. I understood he might want to talk about Oscar but...
"Why a kareoke bar?" I asked out loud.
"What's that?" Jordan asked, his full attention on the game.
"Just focus on the game." I looked up to see he didn't pause the game. I snatched his gaming console.
"Hey, I'm about to win!" he tried to snatch it back but I threw it far.
While he hurried to retrieve it, I ended the game with a sweet victory.
"That's cheating!" he yelled but I laughed.
"Says the guy who played while I was reading a text!" I got up while laughing. "I'm heading out!" I said and went to my room.
Two weeks had passed without a sign of their parents. I was beginning to think they really weren't suited to be parents. Were they that indifferent towards their children?
