A few days later, while playing video games with Jordan, I got a text from Nathan asking me to meet him at a kareoke bar. I understood he might want to talk about Oscar but...

"Why a kareoke bar?" I asked out loud.

"What's that?" Jordan asked, his full attention on the game.

"Just focus on the game." I looked up to see he didn't pause the game. I snatched his gaming console.

"Hey, I'm about to win!" he tried to snatch it back but I threw it far.

While he hurried to retrieve it, I ended the game with a sweet victory.

"That's cheating!" he yelled but I laughed.

"Says the guy who played while I was reading a text!" I got up while laughing. "I'm heading out!" I said and went to my room.

Two weeks had passed without a sign of their parents. I was beginning to think they really weren't suited to be parents. Were they that indifferent towards their children?
