Chapter18

#Chapter18

As I exit the privacy curtains I try my best to wipe away some of the tears that got loose.

I carefully hold the tulle dress in my hands, not allowing it to touch the ground.

I quietly sniffle my nose as I make my way towards the counter to buy the dress.

Do not cry, Elaine.

Your Mother will have something else to yell at you for if you do.

The seamstress gives me an apologetic facial expression as I place the dress on the counter.

/"What's the matter, buttercup?/" She teases me

I smile, thankful that she is not treating me as formally as others.

/"It is rather difficult to explain/" I wipe away another stray tear that escapes from my eye

The sixty year old woman furrows her eyebrows at me.

/"What is so difficult about it?/" She asks

My eyes take in the older woman's confused facial expression, deciding if I should trust her with this information.
