#Chapter1
Gemma
It is about 11 at night when I walk up to the door of the most popular girl in my high school. Tonight, is the last senior party of the summer and in a couple weeks everyone will be shipping off to the colleges they were accepted to attend. I myself, was accepted to Cornell University. I was the smartest student in our graduating class, which somehow got me invited to this party. My guess, is because I beat out little miss popular Regina Glass as valedictorian. Before my speech in front of the class on graduation day, nobody knew who I was or even my name. They assumed they would see Regina behind the podium, but instead they see me.
So, her I am, standing at the door of little miss popular. The door is quite big. Its white like her house and looks to be about ten feet tall. I reach up and grab the marble door knocker, but before I bring the knocker down, the door is ripped open and a large group of teens rush out of the house. They didn’t even notice me jump out the way before they trample me. I scramble into the house before the door is shut behind them.
The music from the room is loud and bumping. Everywhere I walk I have to squeeze by couples either dancing or making out. I find the kitchen and I am handed a beer by some random jock teen I have never met.
/"Hi, I am Johnny,/" he introduces with his brown eyes and big smile. I can smell the alcohol on his breath and he looks like his head was hit too many times.
/"Hi Johnny,/" I whisper trying to walk around him. He stops me and forces me to look at him.
/"You’re really pretty,/" he says as his face is an inch from mine. I have to turn my head to escape from the rising nausea as the smell of alcohol hits me again. /"Look at me,/" he demands grabbing my face and turning it to look at him in the eyes. /"Your eyes are different color./" At this point he begins to slur his words.
/"I have a condition called heterochromia,/" I say managing to pull his hand off my chin, his grip is very strong. /"I have one grey and the other hazel./" He looks at me dumbfounded at what I just said.
/"I thought you had barrowed someone else’s eye ball,/" he says with the most serious look I have ever seen.
Everyone else around me bursts tears and we all began laughing. Johnny himself begins to laugh as well, but I think he did because he didn’t want to feel left out. At that moment I realize this is the opportunity to slip out from the group. I find a nice comfy couch to sit on alone.
After about 5 minutes or so, johnny shows up and sits next to me. He hands me another beer; I haven’t even started the first one her gave me. He then downs his beer before turning to me and peering into my eyes. I smile and start to rise, but grabs my wrist and pulls me back down, this time onto his lap. I try to wriggle out of his grasp with as much strength as I have, but he holds me still. He grabs my hair and plants his lips on mine, forcing me to kiss him. I realize at this point the party is no any fun for me and I need to outsmart johnny. I begin to return the kiss even though the smell is revolting. Then as if I am out of breath, I detach from him.
/"Johnny, go find us a room and then come and get me,/" I whisper into his ear not thinking he would actually hear me with the loud music playing.
His face brightens up and he nods. He gets up and runs up the stair to find a vacant room. As soon as he is out of sight I get up as well and head straight for the back door. Once I’m outside I am welcomes with fresh cold air and a dimness to sound coming from within the mansion. I look about the back yard and take in my surroundings. The first thing I noticed is the huge built in pool occupied by about 20 adolescent tweens. It has lights that change between purple, blue, and green. On the back part of the pool there is a spa attached and a waterfall. In the middle there is an island lounge and bar that you would have to swim to get access. Next to the pool there is a rock garden that would normally be found in Japanese monastery. To the back there is the forest and no fence, that’s where I decide to head. The forest for some reason is beckoning to me.
/"Well, if Johnny decides to look for me out here, he won’t find me./" I say to myself.
I walk down the steps and between the garden and pool. I take out my phone and see that it is 15 minutes to midnight. It is a little chilly tonight, but it doesn’t bother me, like it would other nights. I make it to the forest but I don’t go in very far, I don’t want to get lost. The first thing I do is lean against a tree on the side that is facing away from the house. I take a deep breath and relax with the quiet of the forest.
After some time, I feel a jolt of energy and then I hear it, a voice, or two. I jump up thinking I have been discovered, but I look around and see nothing.
/"You heard us, and you know it,/" the deeper voice says.
I look around and still see nothing. /"Who are you?/" I ask.
/"We are your wolves,/" they both say in unison.
/"I am Stormy,/" the deeper voice says. /"And this is Blizzard./"
The other voice comes into my head and she sounds more feminine in nature, but more submissive than Stormy.
/"Why am I hearing voices?/" I ask myself.
/"We are here to help you,/" they both say.
/"Help me with what?/" I ask.
/"The turn,/" Stormy proclaims.
At the moment she says that, I feel a snap in the base of my spine, and I scream.
