I processed her words in my mind for a moment and then thought of a suitable reply.

‘I should not tell her what is in my heart. I should tell her a suitable reply which everyone expects from a slave like me. I should try to show her that I have accepted defeat. Yes, this is the best way’. This is what I thought in my mind. My mom always used to say that,

I decided to follow what my mom always used to say.

/"Don’t worry Lillian. I have realized many things by staying in the darkness. I have realized that what I did was wrong but now I will not do anything stupid. I replied to her and tried to sound as sincere as I could.

With these words, I smiled at her. I moved towards the king’s room and knocked on it.
