#Chapter2
Little matters
Ryan
I pulled up to a building and got out of my car. I walked up to the door and opened it. When I entered the building, they stood there, waiting for me. Ace was sitting at a desk. I walked over to them, noticing Jordan and Frazier, along with Chase and Brax. I observed Hunter, Drew, RJ, Liam, Nik, Zack, Tony, Lucas, and Sean, along with Charlie.
/"Ryan, what’s going on?/" Hunter asked.
/"We need your help,/" I said.
I walked over to a table. Everyone followed behind me. I placed the file on the table and opened it while everyone looked at the list of names.
/"We need to end these people. It’s quick. In and out./"
/"Sounds simple,/" Zack said.
/"Except, we have one other issue,/" I said.
/"What’s the other issue?/" Drew asked.
/"Once we end them, we’re going after the Santiagos,/" I said.
They glanced at each other.
/"I don’t understand why we’re going after them if we’re helping them,/" RJ said.
/"Because we can’t trust them. Do you think the Santiagos would let us walk away after our plan?/" I asked.
/"Ryan, are you saying they perceive?/" Charlie asked.
/"Yes,/" I said.
/"But how? We were careful,/" Chase said.
I looked at Chase.
/"No matter how careful you are, you’re never careful enough./"
/"So, let me get this straight. No offense, Nik. We’re dealing with members of a drug cartel, which includes a psychotic crew. We have to deal with another crazy crew, too?/" Liam asked.
/"In a nutshell, yes,/" said Ace.
/"Sounds like a party to me except for crazy lunatics,/" Liam said.
We glanced at him.
/"Yeah, don’t stare at me. I’m right./"
I had to hand it to my nephew. He didn’t miss a beat.
After the meeting, I headed home. I needed to play this smart. Lives were on the line. One fuck up, and we would die.
I walked into the house, tossing my keys on the table next to the door. The house seemed empty now. RJ was out on his own. He’s married with a family of his own, like Matthew and Elizabeth. My grandsons were a few weeks old while my granddaughters had turned two. Most of the kids had families now. I requested too much from them. We couldn’t trust the Santiagos. They had proven untrustworthy when they did business dealings with our family. It was a gamble Ace and I took, making sure those girls got what they deserved. They couldn’t trace the money, but it wouldn’t stop them from taking us out if they found out.
I locked the door and made my way upstairs. I walked into the bedroom, and Alex was asleep. I sat on the side of the bed, kicking off my shoes. I crept into the bathroom. After changing into a pair of sweats, I walked over and crawled into bed. I laid down and noticed Alex asleep. I hated having to do this. Her anxiety would be through the roof. It happened when something significant happens. It didn’t bother me to reassure her when she became anxious. I loved her more than anyone.
I remember the day I had seen her for the first time. She was stunning. I had never seen a gorgeous woman. I had no words when I recognized her. No wonder she thought I was creepy. I chuckled to myself at that thought. Throughout the years, we stayed together, working out our differences. People would say it was fate, but I understood differently. No matter what, our love had kept us together.
She stirred and opened her eyes to a slit.
/"Hi,/" she mumbled.
/"Hey,/" I whispered.
/"How did it go?/"
/"I’ll tell you in the morning. Go back to bed./"
I leaned over and gave Alex a soft kiss. I pulled her to me as she turned to her side with her back facing me, and I snuggled up behind her. I drifted off to sleep with her in my arms. There’s no way I wasn’t coming back to her. I couldn’t do that to her. Not now, never.
*****
The next morning I opened my eyes to glimpse Alex still sleeping. Hm, it’s the perfect time to wake her up with my way. I rolled over and took my hand, moving it under her tee-shirt. I started caressing her body as her nipples became erect, turning me on. Her entire body turns me on. After she had the kids, I wanted her more.
I moved my hand below the waistband of her pajama bottoms, touching between her legs. Her wetness was clear. She was ready for me, and I'm ready for her.
I pushed down her bottoms, then my own. I found my way into her. God, I love the way she appeared. I thrust in and out of her as a moan escaped her lips. It made me pick up the pace.
She said with a low breath, /"Ryan./"
Once she said my name, I pulled out and rolled her onto her back. I stripped off my tank and pushed up her shirt as my lips found their way to her breasts. I cupped each one with my hands as I kissed and licked them, nipping at them with my teeth. She let out a moan.
We both pushed off our bottoms with our legs. I moved Alex’s legs apart with mine, finding my way inside of her. As I entered her, she let out a gasp. I thrust in and out of her as she moaned against my face.
/"Come on, baby. Let me hear you,/" I said in a husky voice.
She released and groaned. It caused me to find my release as well. Afterward, I reached up and touched her face while I was still between her legs.
/"Good morning./"
She yawned.
/"Morning,/" I said.
I pecked her lips.
/"I take it your meeting progressed well./"
I pulled out of her and rolled onto my back, letting out a hearty sigh. She pulled her shirt down, sitting up and glancing at me.
/"No, the meeting didn’t go well./"
/"I thought it was a simple job. In and out?/"
I sat up with the sheet across my lap.
/"Nothing with the Santiagos is simple. Alex, I’m going to be straight with you. After we take care of the Garcia crew, we’re going after the Santiagos./"
I watched the color drain from her face as I leaned forward and put my hand on her face.
/"Hey, listen. Once we take care of the Santiagos, it’s over./"
/"You promise?/"
/"I promise./"
I pulled her into a kiss.
/"Oh, for crying out loud! We have work to do. You two are getting frisky and shit!/" Frazier exclaimed at our bedroom door.
/"Don’t you have other places to be than our bedroom?/" I asked.
/"No. I got a call to put people out of their miserable existence,/" he said.
He shot a glance at me.
/"Well, if you would fucking leave, we could get dressed./"
/"It’s nothing I haven’t seen./"
/"Suit yourself./"
I whipped off the cover and stood in my full glory.
/"Whoa! I didn’t need to see that!/"
He turned and left.
I shook my head as Alex laughed. I grabbed my sweats and put them on along with a tank. I came downstairs to find Jordan leaning against the counter, drinking coffee. I grabbed a cup, pouring coffee into it.
/"Junior here glimpsed at Little Ryan,/" Jordan smirked.
/"I told him to leave, but the idiot hung around./"
/"Sort of like someone else./"
I rolled my eyes. It’s too early to deal with their shenanigans before having my first full cup of coffee. As we drank coffee, Frazier raided my fridge, and the back door opened.
/"Hey, Bucky,/" Drew said.
Drew and Elizabeth were carrying the twins. Ryanne toddled over to me.
/"Gampa./"
She clenched my legs. I set my coffee cup down and picked her up. She had brown hair like Elizabeth but had Drew’s blue eyes. She was an absolute doll. The boys were sleeping in their car seats as Drew and Elizabeth set them on the table.
/"How are the boys doing?/" I asked.
Elizabeth poured a cup of coffee while yawning.
/"Ryker sleeps through the night, but Ryder is so restless. I appear like a zombie./"
/"I’ll have your mom and Gail help you out while Drew is on this job with us./"
/"I don’t know, Dad. That’s an awful lot to ask of them./"
/"Ask me what?/" Alex asked.
She strolled into the kitchen, getting a cup of coffee.
/"Would you and Gail stay with us out while Drew is away?/" Elizabeth asked.
Alex set her cup down and whipped around.
/"And you thought I would say no?/"
/"Well, I./"
Elizabeth looked at us as we backed away.
/"Elizabeth Jones Michaels. Helping with my grandbabies isn’t an inconvenience,/" Alex said.
/"I didn’t want to bother you./"
She took Ryanne from me.
/"I can’t deny these stunning beauties. I’ll never refuse your brothers or you./"
She looked at Ryanne.
/"Come, baby girl. You’re going to help grammie pack./"
Alex left the room.
Jordan said, /"That was easy./"
/"Alex would do anything for the grandbabies./"
I continued drinking my coffee.
