Azolla smiled running towards her mother and hugging her legs, she received a gentle rub on her hair by her hand. She always wondered why her mother's hand always had cuts. The skin peeling off the dry hand as she never saw her mother tending to it.

She saw her cut the apple in bites giving her the bite as she laughed sitting in her lap. The sound of her father steps suddenly making her mother stand up and -pick Azolla taking her into a room and locking her inside for the rest of the night.

Azolla wasn't scared of the dark. She found the nights very beautiful, even if the cold air touched her skin and made her shiver she knew her mother come get her in the dawn.
