A fishtail

#Chapter2 A fishtail

/" your highness !/"

He remembered it clearly. The waves, the screams, how he couldnt stand still or pull his sword to defend himself rightfully.

It felt like the ship was ready to turn upside down letting the sea swallow all the men its carried.

For just 2 days they had been sailing now, altho it felt like it was less. He remembered saying goodbye to his parents and waving politely to the people that came to wish him good luck. When his best man taemin had patted his shoulder and teased him about not getting himself caught in a girl drama on another island or eaten by the oceans beasts.

His mother had pressed a ring on his finger reminding him of how important he was to the kingdom and that he at all cost had to return.

/" SAVE THE PRINCE !!/"

his father gave a speech to the guards and sailor that accompanied him on the ship about how his life was more valuable than any of their... because

he was the prince and he was important

Hearing these words come out of his father mouth had always sickened him and he looked at the ring always in hatred as if he could blame it all on the beautiful looking diamond on it.

Now tho, when he had looked into those eyes, felt that soft hand slowly pull on his hand moving further up to his arm l, leading him slowly over the lean of the handrail on the ship.

Being prince wasnt in his head.

It disappeared by the time the waves appeard, he remembered when the ship started shaking and the guards were taking him inside where he couldnt stay tho .. no where he refused to stay when he wanted to know what was happening.

As it started to rain and sailors where getting pulled off the ship, some jumping off as if they wanted to.

When he heard the sounds, the voices these melodies.

Now tho, when he felt himself falling being pulled lured forward by those beautiful eyes down, deeper and deeper as he couldnt breath anymore.

In a way he had realized he was in the water getting pulled deeper into the darkness with only those eyes glowing to guide him but he wasnt afraid.

Cause nothing could happen to him, since he was the prince right. He had thousands of guards

And he was important

How important will he be if he died ?

A sudden pain pulled him out of it like claws digging into his chest, he grimaced and the once beautiful eyes now only looked horrifying to him as he was being pulled away from them. Away from the creature that was trying to pull him under the water.

He frowned kicking his feet in the water and raising his hand to take ahold of the other strange hand that was pulling him up to the light, to the surface.

He thought it was a guard but the speed they were swimming to get up wasnt possible for any human and he started to swallow water as he needed to breath for a moment he thought he was hallucinating when he saw the long fish tail moving besides his feet.

he was close to losing consciousness when he spotted the creature, the siren getting closer and his chest pained as he was pushed, forced further up away from whatever was dragging him up to the surface as it stayed behind encountering the siren from earlier and stopping it in it's way as jongin finally hit the surface of the water struggling when he inhaled deeply but was too weak to swim, fighting against consciousness wanting to give in the darkness.

It seemed forever that jongin had looked around and almost sunk again wanting help when he couldnt even focus his eyesight on more than the sun that was rising.

He couldnt breath and the water was cold numbing his feet and making it even harder for him when he couldnt even scream.

And just as he was about to give up 2 hands had grabbed him under his arms again holding him up and over the surface causing him to take another few breaths when he was pulled through the water letting him rest his energies as he froze to himself closing his eyes to focus on breathing.

Closing his eyes would've been the worst thing to do when it caused he drifting off to sleep while still being pulled through the water by something unknown.

Once the cold had faded a little, he felt himself getting lowered to the ground, steps and voices around him as something warm is placed over him.

He heard hissing, cursing and something struggling around on the ground as swords where being pulled out which made him finally frown and turn his head.

/" tie it up ! Hurry !/"

/" oh my god /"

/" kill it ! what are you doing ! /"

/" hold it still, hold it still !/"

The hissing and noises got louder as the voices multiplied and more and more people seemed to cause a ruckus.

Finally it made him open his eyes, grunting as he did so. When he remembered that before he closed his eyes it had still been little dark but now it was as bright as a day could get.

He sat up holding his head when he still felt himself shiver a little and pulled the blanket with him to lay around him.

/" your highness, are you alright ?/" A man, asked having kneeled beside him on the mere ground of the ship that looked like a mess now, everything was wet and dead fish were laying around on severel places.

Jongin only grunted again, getting to his feet with the help of a few men besides him. /" what happened?/"

The hissing appeard again before any of them could answer and he turned around to look behind the men that were beside him only to see the rest crowding over a spot standing in circle around where the hiss came from.

He frowned disbelieving when he recalled what he last remembered and connected it with the hissing noises and his men fuming over it with their sword in hand.

/" back away !/" He ordered walking toward them with wide frowning eyes. It couldnt be, he must have been dreaming it and imagening things.

He half blinked in shock when his eyes landed on the creature caught up in his men's net. Glaring up at them while showing its sharp teeth as it hissed trying to get the net away by grabbing it in various places as its fish tail laid there moving around to keep them away. It struggled and even tho it glared jongin could see it was actually a little scared.

And as his eyes traveled down he spotted some bite Mark's on its shoulders and gashes with many many scratches around it everywhere over its trail and side obviously from a fight not too long ago.

Looking at his hands as he touched his own chest and giving the appearance of its state and that it obviously just got here like him ..Jongin knew this was a siren, a creature that is despised and feared by many, a creature that had been so hard to fight against or even get a grip on not to mention capture or survive with much memory.

A creature that had saved his life.

/" back up and lower your swords /" he demanded not breaking eye contact with the glaring siren when his men followed his orders.

He looked a little angered and disgusted himself when he observed the creature.

From the tale that was still twitching.

he had been told ever since he was a child that they're dangerous blood thirsty beasts he just had to hate.

/" why did you save me ?/"

It looked down in a glare at that not seeming to answer as its hands lowered from trying to get the net away instead.

Jongin had waited a little giving it time for a response but when he realized he wouldnt get one any soon he pulled his own sword pointing it at it.

/" why. Did you. Save me? Answer! /"

Its eyes moved up glaring deeply into jongins, which made him hesitate at first frowning at the creature and questioning himself finally if it even understand what he had said.

/" stop staring and answer me ! Monster !/"

It hissed loudly in return showing its sharp teeth as its eyes glew a little in white before fading back to its brown as it closed its mouth again, some of his men have flinched to back away but jongin stood his ground growing at it.

/" your highness.. the storm has also caused us to move forward. We are close to the island now. /"

He hesitated looking up to see the island in the distance before back down at the siren when he decided finally as he put his sword back to its place.

/" lock it up and have someone watch it until we arrive /"

/" but your highness having a siren onboard-/"

/" I've almost drowned to death, do you honestly want to make me repeat an order now ?/"

He instantly shock his head apologetic.

/" ofcorse not.. my apologies /"

If jongin wasnt mistaken he could see a look of disgust forming on the sirens face as it witnessed him talking.

while they were back on sailing as jongin rested by sitting down and watching his men clean up the ship again he started to think to himself of what had happened.

Maybe it wasnt the siren that had saved him, maybe it really was just a hallucination and they caught it before it could take him, maybe they fought over who's food jongin will be.

Why would a siren save a human, the mere thought of it was ridiculous.

Exhaling he finally got up from his seat deciding too much thinking would only worsen his headache when he hurried back inside and down the stairs, he hesitated before taking the last few steps down.

to see the siren laying there behind the old bars.

One of his men sitting outside, who instandly got up from his seat as he spotted jongin.

/" it's ok relax../" he ordered letting him know that he wasnt so much on edge like he had been after he had woken up.

Steadily jongin got closer to the bars looking inside to see the siren less energetic than before as it rested, laying on its side with its tail curled in as it now rather lazily watched jongin look back at him.

It made the prince swallowed when he saw how it had still been bleeding and its wounds didnt seem to look that good. He wondered if the reason why the siren seemed calmer was actually because it was slowly bleeding out or even dying without the water it probably needed.

/" I came to ask a question ... /" he started but eventually turned to his men

/" seems like I have to ask you instead...

what happened ? /"
