#Chapter3
The woman who gave birth to me looks away from the love of my life, laying on the bed unconscious, and turns to look at me.
Her eyes widen, like a deer caught in highlights, but as a few moments pass, they soften and fill with what seems like regret.
Wow, she's a brilliant fucking actor.
/"Axel, I just wanted to talk to you-/"
/"Get the fuck out of here./" I cut her off, ignoring the way her expression turns hurt after I say the words.
I don't give a fuck about her feelings because she obviously didn't give a fuck about mine when she left me alone in belief that I was responsible for her death.
/"Please, son, I want to make things okay between us./" she pleads and I huff.
/"First of all, don't call me that, you don't deserve to call me that. Second of all, why do you want to fix things now? What about five years ago? You think that I'm so stupid that I won't figure out this is about my new fame? You must be really fucked up to do this to your own son. I can't believe I actually loved you once and thought you were the best mother possible./" I say and tears appear in her eyes.
Good.
/"And you must be really foolish if you think that way of me. It's so sad to see that you still haven't grew up./" she says softly, looking at her hands in her lap and I sigh. Does she really think I'll fall for her stupid act?
/"Just get the fuck away from here./" I say again and rage fills me when she shakes her head no.
/"I'm not giving up on my son./" she says as softly as she said her previous words.
/"Are you fucking kidding me? Did you not just hear a single fucking word that I said? You're no mother, you're a piece of shit who abandoned me when I needed you the most. I couldn't forgive you even if I wanted to!/" I shout at her and she stands up from her seat.
/"Well then I'll die trying to change your mind and make you forgive me!/" she says in a loud voice and I stay quiet, examining her expression.
/"Is this about money? Because I'm not giving you any./" I say and she sighs in exeparation.
/"How many times do I have to tell you? It's not about money, or fame. I just want us to have some sort of a relationship./" she explains and then sits down.
/"I don't believe you./" I tell her and she shrugs.
/"That's expected, but like I said, I'm not giving up. I need to explain everything to you sometime. Possibly when she wakes up./" she says and my blood runs cold when I see her take Soph's hand in hers.
/"Don't touch her./" I warn her and she glances at me.
/"What, I can't touch my daughter-in-law to be?/" she asks and I dramatically roll my eyes.
Great. Now everyone knows she is going to be my wife, except Sophie. It should be the other way around.
/"Who told you?/" I ask her.
/"The nurse. She said that she's never seen a man so heartbroken before./" she explains and I'm about to ask how the fuck would the nurse know this information but I honestly probably cried over it at least twenty times in the last few days she it's not a surprise she overheard me.
I exhale and come closer to Sophie. /"Well, it's not necessary she will be my wife. She might never wake up./"
/"Don't say that./" Anne immediately says and I shrug.
/"Why? There's a pretry high chance of her staying in coma forever. Even if she does wake up, she might not remember me./" I say, and then think over it. /"Which might not be so bad if that would mean she wouldn't know that she was ever pregnant./"
/"You're both going to get through this./" Anne tells me. /"You are both too young for a child, anyway. There's still so much to learn before that./"
/"Yeah, but this was our baby. I was actually excited for it. Yeah, we're both very young but I can guarantee that the child could not have a better mother than Sophie, despite her age./" I defend the baby and she nods.
/"I know. She is a great person./" she replies and then slowly stands up. /"It's getting quite late, do you want to go home?/"
I shake my head. /"No, I'll sleep here by her side. I probably won't get much sleep anyway so at least I'll be looking after her./" I say and she gives me that sympathetic smile that I hate so much.
/"Well, I'll leave you to it, then. I'll come by tomorrow. Have a good night, son. I love you./" she says and I surpress the urge to start yelling at her by hearing those words from her, and simply wish her good night too, waiting for her to leave the room.
When she finally does, I feel myself relax and sit down by Sophie, taking her hand in mine like usually.
Unable to keep my eyes open, I slowly let them close, feeling great comfort of being alone with her again.
And then something remarkable happens. It's so subtle that I almost miss it, but I know it happened and it isn't just my imagination.
Her hand flinches.
