Chapter2

#Chapter2

Armarria’s eyes fluttered open. At first, a dizzy feeling kicked in until her eyes adjusted. She looked around the room, grateful for the dim lights with its soothing atmosphere. Calm and serene.

/"She’s up!/"

A tiny voice screeched on her bedside. Armarria looked over to see who was beside her. It was a little girl. She was tiny and fragile but full of life with long black hair secured in pigtails with big brown eyes.

/"You are adorable./" Armarria couldn’t help but tell her.

/"Thank you!/" The little girl gleamed /"I’m Sara by the way. What’s your name?/" There was a low grumble coming from the corner of the room.

/"What was that?/" Armarria began to panic. /"Is someone else in here?/" She checked the whole room with her eyes again and didn’t see anyone. Maybe she was hallucinating.

/"I’m sorry./" Sara pouted.

/"What..?/" Armarria looked back at the little girl, confused.

/"I will go get my brother now./" She ran off. The room felt cold instantly.

/"Wait./" She threw the covers off of her and threw her legs over the bed. She had the odd feeling someone was watching her from the shadows and she didn’t want to be alone with them. Whatever it was.

The last thing she remembered was grabbing Jason’s arm to stop him from pulverizing Ryan. Though he deserved it, she didn’t want to see him hurt.

/"Ah, you are awake. Glad you are alright./" Savion walked in very casually. Still, the ripple of power was there.

/"Where I am?/" She shuddered. /"Where did you take me?/" She had so many questions.

Savion squatted in front of her so he could be eye level with her. He was so tall that she was grateful for the gesture. /"You saved me then you passed out./" He explained. /"Why has the CLOAK kept you a secret all this time? They would not keep a G.E.M like you a secret./"

Armarria was really confused now. /"G.E.M.? The Cloak?/"

/"Government Enhanced Men. In your case woman. The Cloak are the first generation enhanced perfections. The most powerful enhanced beings. No one like you slips pass them./"

/"I honestly don’t know what you are talking about./" Armarria started. /"Enhanced men? I know things tend to happen when I get upset, but I’m not enhanced. I’ve never seen this G.E.M you’re speaking of./"

What he was saying was crazy. She was normal as normal could be. Then her mind struck her with realization. Okay, she knew that was a lie. She was weird and no one accepted her.

Not even her parents, if she had such a thing. That part of her life was hazy.

/"Is she lying?/" Savion spoke, breaking her out of her trance.

Confused, she opened her mouth to ask who he was talking too until another deep male voice answered.

/"No, she speaks the truth./" The voice came out the dark corner low and menacing, much like Savion’s but darker.

Armarria began to panic grabbing the covers and pushing herself further on the other side of the bed.

/"Come out Shadow. You have scared her enough./"

A man appeared out of the darkness, transparent at first but his body began to form from the dark aura into a person. Armarria moved away further towards the wall, horrified.

/"He is not that bad./" Savion wanted to soothe her from the fear as he stared at her pale face.

/"Do not lie to her Savion. If she turns out to be part of the Cloak I will not hesitate to kill her./" Armarria flinched back as if he struck her. /"Just because she told the truth does not mean she is innocent. We cannot trust just her word./" A tear fell down her face. Why was she crying?

The man she once knew as Jason but now knew was Savion touched her knee. /"It is ok. We will sort this out./" He soothed. /"Shadow, go feed the children./"

Shadow instantly objected. /"Savion I will not…/"

All it took was a look. Savion turned his head towards Shadow. The look he gave made anyone want to do whatever he said. Without another word, Shadow left quietly.

/"Excuse my brother. He has a terrible time trusting outsiders./" He looked back to her then. /"I am Savion./"

So many questions raced through her mind. /"I need to leave. I don’t want to disturb whatever you guys got going on./"

She placed her legs on the floor still a bit shaky, but determined. She had to go back to where things were normal. Simple. Heartbreaking. She held her chest as another tear fell. Savion stood up in front of her. He was intimidatingly tall. She stopped a little below his chest.

/"I do not think going back home would be the best for you. If you are not part of the Cloak then they will come after you. You are not trapped, but for the safety of my family I cannot allow you to know where we reside./"

Armarria objected. /"I didn’t see anything coming in here. I honestly don’t know where we are. When I leave you can just blindfold me. I won’t tell anyone./" Savion grabbed her shoulders to calm her down, but it did the opposite. Once he touched her and looked into her eyes that lightning bolt flashed in their pupils again. He released her.

/"I am sorry./" He didn’t understand what was happening. The attraction between them was so intense, unlike anything neither had ever felt before. /"You are right. But tell me what do you have to go back too? I see the sadness in your eyes, Armarria. You are not happy at that bank or with that prick that tried to beat you./" He spoke the truth and that made her angry.

/"You have no right trying to tell me about my life. You know nothing about me. I have everything under control. So you can just spare me your lessons./" The room shook. /"Ryan is the only guy that ever loved me. Ever accepted me. He made a mistake, but doesn’t deserve to be abused, especially by you Mr. Sanders or Savion whatever your name is./"

/"It is Savion./" He smirked. /"It is fine Shadow. Miss Armarria was just letting out some steam./" She looked confused again.

/"What are you smiling about?/" She was becoming more annoyed at him now, with his beautiful grin.

/"How incredibly adorable you look angry. You are definitely telekinetic. Your powers are active when you are angry. Very interesting./" Savion rubbed his chin in deep thought. /"I believe fate brought us together. I can teach you how to control your powers if that is something you wish, but going back to a miserable life just because it is normal is not acceptable. I would like it if you stayed, but the choice is yours of course./"

/"Stay./" Sara and another young girl shouted from the doorway. Savion held out his hand.

/"You have powers?/" She asked, staring at his hand reaching out for hers.

/"Yes. Just like you mine are also active when angered. Come meet my brothers and sisters. You are hungry and should eat something before you decide./" The compulsion to take his hand was strong. A little too strong. She accepted. /"Plus it is not every day I bring home a woman./" Armarria laughed, softly as he began to escort her through the house.

The two girls at the door ran downstairs giggling. /"I don’t believe that. All those women at my job drool over you./"

Savion nodded. /"Yes. I notice. I also notice the ones who do not./" He looked at her hoping she would take the hint, but she was focused on the structure of the house. The beautiful wall layout handcrafted with love and power. She touched the walls and felt the house’s story. The children’s drawings on the walls expressing all of their emotions.

Savion admired her fascination. He had a strange feeling the children would love her as would he. The thought shocked him. They made their way to the kitchen. Shadow was there handing out portions of lobster linguini. He looked over at Savion disappointed and angry.

/"Savion, what the hell?/" he whispered low, gritting through his teeth.

/"I am introducing our house guest./"

Shadow scoffed. /"She is not a guest. There is no way she can stay…/"

Armarria ignored them and stared at the remaining children. There were two older boys, older than Sara. One looked around eight years old, the other, sitting down, seemed to be around seventeen. The older girl looked around twelve, so young and fragile. She was very beautiful with tons of red golden hair spilling over her face with slight freckles.

/"That is Melody. The little guy is Jet and that is David. The man of the house./"

David shook his head. /"No, I’m not. I can’t even…/"

Savion placed his hand on the top of the boys head. /"You will David. You are becoming a man now and have to look after your brother and sisters if anything happened to Shadow or me./"

Sara ran and hugged his leg. /"It won’t. You can’t leave us./" She pleaded.

He looked back at Armarria. /"This is my new friend, Armarria. She might be staying with us for awhile. Make her a plate of your delicious pasta, Jet./"

Armarria looked shocked. /"You cooked?/" She sounded impressed.

Jet smiled. /"I sure did. I always do. These people wouldn’t know what to do without me./"

He was in front of her one second without a plate, the next he appeared out of nowhere with a full plate in his hands.

/"Now I see why they call you Jet./" She took a seat at the table next to David. He nervously looked at her then back to his plate. /"I assume everyone here has a gift. What is yours?/" Shyly David looked up at Savion for permission.

/"Go on./"

David turned around waving his finger in the air as if drawing. A robot entered the kitchen with the head of a tv and a keyboard on its chest. David didn’t explain what the robot was, he just continued eating. Armarria looked up to Savion for answers.

/"He is a technopath. He keeps the lights on for us./"

She looked closer at the teen. He was very skinny and awkward with the blackest hair falling into his face. He wasn’t out running around disobeying his parent or smoking weed. David respected Savion and looked to him for guidance possibly Shadow as well.

/"Pick me! Me!/" Sara jumped up and down in her seat.

/"Sara not at the table,/" Shadow spoke softly and firmly. She stopped instantly.

Armarria smiled. /"What can you do?/"

/"I healed you!/" She boosted excitedly. /"I also can feel your pain so I can heal the problem./"

/"And we love you for that./" Melody touched her arm lovingly. /"I can astral project./" Melody concluded before Armarria asked.

She finally took a bite of her pasta. Her eyes watered. /"God this is wonderful./"

Jet laughed. /"I knew it./"

Shadow stared at Armarria. /"What about you?/" He asked almost harshly.

She looked up shocked.

/"Me?/"

Everyone looked at her. She chewed her food. /"I believe I’m telekinetic. That’s what Savion told me anyways./" She glanced over at him.

His dark auburn eyes stared into her soul again. He had to stop before she started blushing. Shadow saw the connection.

/"What the hell is going on between you two?/" There was the blush. Savion laughed. The room was silent as everyone stared at him.

/"Savion you…/" David couldn’t fathom the words.

/"Did you just laugh?/" Melody asked shocked.

Armarria looked confused. /"What? He never laughs? Please don’t tell me./" She looked around at their faces. They were serious.

/"It has been a while since I had a good laugh. I told you I never bring a woman home./" He winked at her as he stood up taking his plate to the sink.

Shadow frowned. /"She has to get her memory wiped so enjoy the flirting while you can. Sex her if you must to get back to being yourself, but she has to leave./"

He bumped into Savion, having a private conversation with him at the sink. Savion remained quiet. He knew his brother’s concerns. It was always, and always will be his main goal to keep the children safe. The attraction was weird for even him, so he understood his brother’s concern. His guard was down all because of some weird emotion he was feeling. The intense attraction caused him to break all the rules he set in place. This woman was going to be trouble.

As Armarria and the children chatted at the table, Savion snuck away to his room. The shot from earlier stung like hell and wasn’t healing as fast as he thought it would. He bandaged himself back up, with a little pop of his arm, he grunted. There was a soft knock on the door.

/"Yes?/"

David entered. ‘/"I found the info you asked on the G.E.M facility. You were right. The main base in Toronto, where you rescued us from, isn’t the only one. With careful research, I tracked another base in Las Vegas./"

Savion eyes squinted. /"Shit. Can I not stop these demons?/" he ran a frustrated hand through his hair.

David lowered his head. /"I’m sorry Savion./"

/"It is not you David. Do not blame yourself for those government assholes. Did you scan Armarria like I asked?/"

David's face lit up slightly. /"Yes, I found nothing on her. Her data went missing twenty-six years ago if my calculations are correct. She was deleted from the G.E.M database. That’s all I found./"

Savion looked confused. /"Why do you seem happy about that?/"

David shrugged. /"She seems nice. I wanted this to be proof she’s not bad like Shadow believes. If she is part of the Cloak, Shadow won’t hesitate to kill her./"

Savion sighed. /"Yes I do understand him, as should you, but something within me is telling me she is different. I want to trust her. Just trust me on this. I will not let anyone hurt you guys./" He placed his hand on top of the boy’s head giving him a playful grind with his palm. David smiled.

/"You deserve to be happy Savion. You helped us find a home but I have noticed over the past years you don’t seem all that happy. Armarria seems to bring something out in you none of us can./"

Savion crossed his arms. He didn’t want the boy to be right, but he damn sure was onto something. A minute or two of silence went by. /"Just spit it out, David./" He replied, reaching for a shirt.

/"You’re going to Las Vegas to track them down aren’t you?/"

Savion paused. David already knew the answer. /"This is what we talked about David./" He stated.

David sighed extremely worried for his brother. /"I know but you shouldn’t have to go alone. What if they capture you again or worse?/"

Savion placed his hand on the teen's shoulder. /"I vowed to keep our brothers and sisters safe. I knew the risk of burning down that facility in Toronto. We both know they will never stop coming for you or them. You promised me you would take over if anything happened to me or Shadow. Do not go back on that./"

David turned his head. /"I won’t./"

He walked away from him causing Savion to sigh. That little man was so scared of being in charge he didn’t even know he was coming into his own. He was stronger than him whether he knew it or not. He walked into the kitchen, his eyes meeting Armarria’s, piercing through his soul. She lit up the room somehow.

/"Ok kids time for bed./"

Jet and Sara stood up. /"Ok. Goodnight Miss Armarria./" They chimed together.

/"Goodnight you two. Sweet dreams./"

They all said their goodbyes except for Melody, who began to wash the dishes. She is the oldest woman in the house so those daily chores fell on her shoulders. Armarria felt sadness for the children and all they endured. A childhood stripped away from them.

They would never have a real life like normal children would, worrying about school work or boys. More and more she began to understand the sacrifice Savion and Shadow made to protect them.

She walked over to Melody. /"Mind if I help you?/"

Melody smiled. /"Sure./"

Savion smiled as well leaving the girls alone to bond. He walked into the living room where Shadow crouched on the sofa.

/"I’m going to Las Vegas. Do not dare tell me I am not./" Shadow said. He already knew David had told Savion about the other location and the possibilities of others.

/"I figured you would. Savion started. /"You are the best man for the job, but not until we have more. I cannot risk you Shadow. You are far too consumed by your hatred to think clearly./"

Shadow scoffed. /"They killed…/"

/"I know what they have done./" Savion interrupted him. /"We are living proof of their evils, but we are better than them./"

/"Are we?/" Shadow asked while folding his arms.

/"Regardless of what we have done, we are not the monsters they made us. That is what the kids need to believe./" Savion replied. Shadow couldn’t argue with that.

/"You taught the kids well./" That was as much of a compliment Shadow could give.

Savion crossed his arms then. /"They all love you Shadow. This house is just as broken without you as it would be without me. You taught them just as well./"

Shadow stood up. /"That woman is looking for you./" He sounded almost disgusted.

/"Shadow, do you have a problem with the opposite sex?/"

Shadow’s face turned grim. /"You know what I mean. Better watch yourself. This spell she has placed upon you I do not like it./" He walked out the room as Armarria walked in. He didn’t even acknowledge her presences.

/"I’m sorry if I’m causing any trouble between you and your brother,/" Armarria said. /"He doesn’t seem to like me very much./"

Savion sighed. /"Shadow does not take well with strangers./" He sat down on the couch, gesturing for her to sit. She sat cautiously beside him. He was way too intimidating, far too sexy. She had never looked at him as a man until now. His scent engulfed her, masculine and fresh like a forest pine tree.

She noticed the bandage on his shoulder. /"You’re still hurt./" She leaned over to examine it, she was so close to him. A little too close.

/"It is nothing it should be healed soon./" He replied, allowing her to examine him. He smiled at her concern. Her worry warmed him.

/"Sara could heal this easy right?/" Armarria looked up at Savion for confirmation.

/"Yes, but she was healing you and I did not want to put any more strain on her than needed. I heal pretty fast usually. This little scratch should be gone by now./" Armarria leaned back because he was just talking, but he was touching places on her body she couldn’t ignore. Her mind even wondered what his hands could do. She mentally slapped herself.

/"I know you have a lot of questions. What do you want to know?/" She sucked in a breath, knowing what she wanted, afraid to disappoint him.

/"I can’t stay here. I’m sorry Savion. I have to go back to my life./" Savion sucked in breath feeling the heavy weight on his heart. She saw the rejection on his face, which is why she had to leave. The feeling they both felt was the reason she knew she couldn’t possibly stay. Savion would corrupt her heart and mind and God she wanted him to take over her body, but she was afraid.

Ryan was her lover and no one else had that title. He hurt her beyond repair. She had no room in her heart for someone like Savion especially. He was all too overwhelming, powerful. He would take over her, consume her. She wasn’t ready. Savion sat up slightly, keeping his composer.

/"If you wish it./" He was disappointed. He didn’t even know why. He stood up from the couch. /"I will take you back in the morning./" He was about to walk away, leave her alone, but he stopped at the doorway.

/"I cannot say I am not disappointed. I do not know why I feel this way towards you, but I hoped you would stay. I hope you can remember the way back to the guest room./"

He bowed slightly and walked off. Armarria’s chest instantly felt heavy. The need to cry was almost unbearable. What the hell was she thinking? She walked towards the hallway. Her legs were shaky and her head was spinning. The heavy feeling in her chest increased. She walked passed Savion’s room. The door was slightly opened. She couldn’t help but peek inside.

He was undressing, pulling off the bandage on his shoulder, bare chest. Armarria’s mouth suddenly became dry. She felt the heat in her cheeks as she watched him move. The ripple of muscles, the smoothness of his skin. Everything about him turned her on. It was exactly why she had to leave.

She pulled herself away from the door and continued to the guest room. Savion could feel her staring. Felt the lust protruding off of her into him. He closed his eyes, trying to gain control of his body, but his penis wasn’t listening to him the way he wished. This woman was changing his life already. Maybe it would be best if she left him and went back to her life. His heart dropped again. He would never see her again.
