Chapter59

#Chapter59

Thankfully, dinner with the Foxx family came to an end. After helping Mrs. Foxx clean the table and wash the dishes, she forced Corbin to take me home. 'Forced' wouldn't be the right word for it since he was more than happy to take me.

/"So.../" I break the silence. /"Your family's nice./" Corbin scoffs at my comment to my surprise.

/"I like your mom,/" I said.

/"My mom's dead,/" he quickly responds. I notice his jaw clenching and his shoulder tense. Why does he get so defense on the topic of his mom?

A thought came to mind at the question: he's still hurt and heartbroken from his mom's death. He told me his mom passed away when he was 10. To lose his mom at such a young age, it must've caused him a lot of pain. From what I've seemed, he and his dad don't get along. I wonder what it must've been like without a loving parent by his side.
