He crept over, ignoring the vacant couch to the other side of the room, as well as the wingback armchair, and settled at the bottom of the sofa I was perched on. Unexplainable as to why, but that action had my chest swelling with satisfaction. It had my shoulders sliding back and my spine straightening as I sat up taller, beaming at him. He offered a bashful smile in return.

Milo, the little menace, lapped over to Oz, trying to clamber up the sofa to him, his back paws sliding as he struggled to maintain the pose. As sweet as ever, the boy took pity on him, lifting him up and planting a kiss on the top of his head. Milo tried to return the kiss, which set Oz off into a round of giggles and a game of dodging commenced.

And I could only watch.

He had the ability to make the simplest of things, like laughing, so enchaining. He captivated me in ways that nobody else ever had.
