/"I kept thinking about them long after the show had ended. I kept thinking that if those stirring that made them dance so brightly were cut, what would happen? Would those little deadheaded puppets crumble to the ground, broken and useless? Or would the show have continued, as though they were bound by more than just ticky-tack and string? It drove me insane, all that wondering. Was the will of the puppeteer so strong that it could outweigh the laws of physics itself?/"
The ringing in his ears, it seemed louder now. More intense. It fell into step with the rapid flutter of his heart, a maddening symphony that almost made deafness more appealing than muteness.
