Stars were so pretty; twinkly and shiny, I wanted to make one my friend.

My hand reached out, grabbing towards the shiniest one, but my hand only met with the screen of Joel's Ipad. Lower lip trembling, I turned to the older man; he was watching me with a look that was halted somewhere between bemusement and undisguised humour.

/"No lettie Asa get staws, Daddy./"

/"No./" Joel gave a slight smile. /"Them being inside the screen kind of does that, buddy./"

I was lying on my tummy on the floor. My paci dangled from my teeth, the air bubble in the nib burst and useless from how much I had bitten it, and a fluffy blanket swallowed my body. My fingers worked against the material, the soft fibres making me feel sleepy. The Ipad was propped up against the coffee table base, the swirling image of deep space shimmying across the screen.
