#Chapter3

The academy

Scott's POV

/"Scott, hurry up!/" Ian let out from outside the room.

/"One minute!/" I put on the black leather jacket he kept on my bed. The attire had an emblem at the chest level. It beared the insignia of two intertwining triangles. One white the other black.

I glanced around the room one more time before I left it, introducing myself to the corridor. Ian was leaning on the wall, absently looking at the ring on his hand.

/"Hey./"

He shot his head up. /"You're done./"

/"Yes./"

He gestured along the corridor. /"This way./" He led the way and I followed suit.

Doors like mine lined the corridor. The walls were sparkling white like the ones in my room. Alluring paintings hung on the wall and made me turn my head once in a while. We walked till we reached a stair. Ian went down it and I followed.

The stairs turned continuously and I was beginning to get dizzy. I wondered how high the building was. The walls of the stairs were made of stone and had wooden torches hung on them.

I was so glad when we finally left the stairs. He led me to another corridor that had white columns lining it. There were three more corridors and they joined forming a square. At their middle was a fountain that had the statue of a naked male angel in gold. Water was pouring from the penis of the statue. I looked closely and noticed that the angel was the exact resemblance of Ian. The water of the fountain glistened under the sun and mowed grasses surrounded the fountain.

/"So, tell me more about this academy./"

At least if I was going to stay here, I deserved to know about the place.

Ian slowed down so I could reach him. /"We recruit supernaturals ./"

/"Like vampires?/"

/"No./" He frowned. /"Vampires are a common enemy in this academy./"

/"Like her?/" I eyed a girl at the other corridor.

A ball of fire was on her palm and she threw it around, playing with it. Ian followed my eyes and saw her.

/"Yes./"

/"So that's why you were asking if I had powers?/" I asked. /"You wanted to know if I was like her./"

/"Yeah./" He glanced at me and trailed off his gaze to his front. /"Unfortunately, you don't have any./"

/"So.../" I glanced around. /"Why am I here?/"

/"A prophecy claims your going to be our ultimate weapon stopping Dracula./" He raked his hair. /"I guess that's why you're still here./"

This whole thing was making me go nuts. First vampires attacked me last night now I'm hearing about a prophecy. God please tell me this is a dream.

/"It's not./"

I shot my eyes open. /"Did you just read my mind?/"

Ian twitched a corner of his lips and faced front. /"I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. Come on, let's move./"

Great, now someone can read my mind. How creepy?

/"Scott, you have to stop talking to yourself. Concentrate./"

/"How did you know my name?/"

/"Are you seriously asking that?/" He put a hand in his pocket and continued walking.

We left the corridor and entered an open place. It looked like a courtyard. At the middle too was another fountain. But this one didn't have any statue on it. The son scorched my skin and I regretted why I wore this jacket. I was under shades for too long that I didn't know how hot the sun was.

Raising my gaze, I gasped. I had just left a castle. I was in a fucking castle. How rich are these guys? The castle was so tall that I couldn't even see the roof. It's walls was of grey stones and some balconies shot out of it.

I strode along the clobbered floor, following Ian like a duckling will follow its mama. People in the same jacket as mine stole a quick glance from me as they walked past me. Some whispered into their ears whenever I passed them. Are these guys gossiping about me?

/"Ignore them./" Ian raised a hand and gestured at me to increase my pace. /"They'll only make you feel insecure./"

And it was working.

Nothing was on me. My cloth was clean. So why on earth are these people still looking at me?

/"I see you're very stubborn./"

I rose my gaze and saw Ian looking at me with a smirk on his face. He then rubbed his cheek with a palm.

/"You remind me of an old friend of mine. He was really stubborn like you. Until.../" His smirk dropped and he faked a smile. /"never mind. This way./"

He strode to another castle but this one was smaller than the other. Gargoyles made of stone were mounted on its roof. The entrance was a huge double door that had a golden handle. Ian pushed it open and we entered, the lobby first in view.

People in the same jacket as mine strode along the black tiled lobby. Some carried books in their hands, while some gisted and laughed. A pretty light skinned lady with Afro curls advanced to us and played a smile on her lips when she closed in.

/"Babe./" Ian pecked her lips.

She looked at me and broke out a warm smile. /"You must be Scott./" She stretched out a hand to shake me. /"I'm Gabrielle, the academy's doctor. /"

I shook her hand.

/"Albazar said he's got a mission./" Gabrielle crossed her hands as she looked at her boo. /"You should go meet him. I'll attend to Scott./"

/"Sure./" He pecked her cheeks again. /"Bye./"

/"Bye./" She waved at him and watched him till he was out of sight.

/"So, Scott.../" She tapped my shoulder. /"welcome to the undivulged academy./"
