#Chapter2
/"Get up!/" My trainer hissed at me. My back hurt like hell... He's the only one that hasn't left. I'm the best, but I do physically have a disadvantage. I'm a girl, guys have more muscle mass than girls. Joe looks like the hulk. 6'6 with ripped muscles... He has his own personal gym.
He shaved off all of his hair because he claims its /"shininess distracts the enemy/" considering he's a werewolf he has to use Nair. Though he claims the shininess distracts the enemy, I believe it distracts him more.
/"Why can't I just lay here?/" I mumbled rubbing my hands against the sweaty scrummage mat.
/"You can't lay down in the middle of a fight./" Joe scoffed, reaching his hand down to pick me up. I took a deep sigh and took his hand.
/"What's wrong little blond?/" Joe asks patting my back.
Joe is like a concerned father... Considering mine is dead.
/"I don't know Joe... My head has been killing me./" I sighed, rubbing my hand over my temple.
/"It's probably just your wolf./" Joe smiled then guided me to my water. His hand placed on my shoulders.
/"Probably your mate./" He whispered lowly... Almost so low that I couldn't hear him.
/"Speed demons don't get mates./" I whispered back. This is true, we hardly ever get mates... My mom was a lucky one, dad was on a search for his mate. He crossed territories onto the Glint packs lands and camped out. Technically he was a rogue, therefore mom was sent out too... You know get rid of the problem. So one night mom sneaks into his little makeshift tent ready to finish her job, but found only her mate sleeping like a rock. She said and I quote /"I had to run my hand along the beautiful mans cheek, and when I did... I felt sparks./" Apparently he did too because he jolted awake. They got married almost immediately, even though they hardly knew each other they felt as though... Well they felt like they had known each other for a decade. Mom was completely honest, he knew what she was. And because finding a mate when you're a speed demon is so hard, dad was allowed to join the pack and become a warrior wolf. One of the best fighters too. Then he met his match... I think. For two years dad was MIA. They couldn't find his body, so we figured he was still alive. After years of searching we just wrote him off as dead.
/"Sure they do kiddo, he's out there... Just. Wait./" He patted my back once more before sighing. /"I think we've had enough training, wouldn't want to drain all of your energy for tonight's job./"
/"They have failed to give me any information on my task./" I mumbled taking a swig of my water.
/"You work best when it's last minute,/" He mumbled. /"It allows you to not over think it./"
/"Right,/" I scoffed. /"I'm going to go take a nap,/"
/"See you tomorrow Joe./"
/"Bye kiddo.../"
He knows I hate being called kiddo, considering I have taken him down several times, it just make me want to beat him even more. I am by no means a /"kid/". That's what has always gotten to me. Adults think they know everything because they're older. Yes, they know more... But so do we. Also I basically fend for myself.
I wasn't going to take a nap... I planned on going to the gym. The pack gym of course.
.
Once I got to the gym my body physically relaxed. At the pack gym I could act normal. Like I was just exercising.
I pushed through the steel doors noises flooded my sensitive ears. The smell of sweat and body odor was pungent.
/"Oh gag!/" I hissed.
The gym was mostly empty, only a few people here and there. The smell of rain and woods flooded my nose. Isaac.
I looked around spotting his huge figure. His fists are wrapped up in fabric as he punched the poor punching bag. Sweat trickled down his forehead, and veins popped out everywhere possible. It was a beautiful sight, seeing somebody so focused on what they were doing. I felt my headache ease, I sighed at the feeling. Isaac's vibrant green eyes snapped up meeting my blue ones.
/"Sorry don't mind me./" I mumbled finding a punching bag of my own. I wrapped my hands up in the rough cloth, then began lightly punching into the bag. This was like a cool off course for me.
/"You should hit the bag harder./" Isaac's bold voice touched my ears, making me involuntarily shiver.
/"I know,/" I replied back laying my punches in harder.
/"Can you even fight?/" Isaac mumbled from beside me, making me jump. How did he sneak up on me?
/"Yes, I can fight./" I whispered, holding my hand over my pounding chest. /"Can you fight?/" I took a deep breath.
/"Of course./" He scoffed, a smirk played on his lips.
/"Alright.../" I mumbled, smiling a little. This was a whole new Isaac.
His smirk fell, and he took a deep breath. Isaac's dark brown locks were plastered across his forehead. I wanted to reach out and fix his hair, and to run my fingers down his beautifully crafted face. Wait. No. He hates me.
/"I'm sorry for the way I have been treating you./" He whispered so quietly.
/"There's just... Something about you.
It's unnatural./"
My chest constricted... Did he know what I was? Did he know what I've done? About the lives that I took? The shame I didn't feel? Why am I worried about what he thinks?
/"It's okay... Though I don't understand the last part./" I whispered, my voice sounded airy.
Isaac took a step Forward, my heart picked up at how close we are. I could reach out and run my hand down his cheek right now. I could, but I won't.
/"You smell.../" He paused. /"So good./" He groaned the last part. My heart was beating like a bass drum. What is happening to me? I didn't know if he was getting closer or if I was, but somebody is leaning in. Maybe both of us? His green eyes held my blue ones. Our lips were now inches away... I can feel his minty breath fan my face. I wanted to finish this. To have our lips connect... To finish this agonizing wait. I wanted to kiss Isaac so bad; My body physically hurt!
His head tilted a little, I copied his actions... We were so close I could feel the heat off of his body.
/"Callie./" My mom hissed from the other side of the gym. Her eyes, which were now now a dark shade of blue, held anger. Both Isaac and I jumped away from each other. Earlier we were calling each other names and now we almost kiss? What's happening to my already messed up world? I thought he hated me? I still didn't know what he means by /"unnatural/"
/"Mom!/" I gasped feeling my heart explode in my chest. /"You're late./" She hissed, glaring daggers at me.
My heart suddenly dropped. I was late? Quickly I grabbed my phone.
Mom: headquarters at 6. Be on time!
I looked at the time, and mentally cursed. 6:30. I was very late.
Quickly I tossed everything back into my bag. Glancing at Isaac, he looked just as confused as I was. His eyes snapped up to meet mine. Confusion and need filled his beautiful green eyes.
I couldn't focus on him. I needed to focus on my mission. Even if it pained me to walk away from Isaac.
I don't know why it brought me such discomfort, but it did. Something about him makes me feel as he said... Unnatural.
