Chapter3

#Chapter3

The girl spoke while pointing at Freyah. Her tone doesn’t seem too nice. There was a hint of sarcasm in her sentences but Emaya decided to keep it cool.

/"Hey, yeah I am,/" she replied and maintained her loveliest smile.

/"Well, obviously. Who won’t like her? I mean, it’s rare to find someone kind-hearted in the world full of bitches./" Ryan emphasized the last word, glaring at the girl.

Mina scoffed but instantly covered it up with a fake cough.

Diana rolled her eyes at him, Her gaze shifting to Freyah with a mean, bitchy look on her face. Emaya noticed immediately that Freyah was getting somewhat uneasy.

/"Ehm.. Excuse me./" Freyah said, breaking into a cold sweat as she hurriedly got up to leave.

/"Wait. Where are you going?/" Emaya asked with concern.

Freyah glanced at the girl as she mumbled under her breath, /"I’m just... /"

/"Want me to come with you?/"

/"No, no. I’m just going to the washroom,/" she shook her head, faking a smile and walked away as fast as she could.

Emaya felt a bit worried for her as she watched her go while the girl looked pleased with herself saying, /"Well then, Excuse me too./"

She shot Ryan a glare before she walked away proudly in the same direction as Freyah. Emaya sensed something was off and asked with a concerned voice, /"Who was that girl?/"

/"A mean bitch!/"

/"A spoiled brat!/"

/"A shitty hoe!/"

Emaya: /".../"

/"I- I mean.. Her name? /" Emaya tried to hold in her laughter.

/"She’s Diana. You better avoid her. She isn’t one of the nice ones,/" Mina warned her.

/"Nice?/" Ryan huffed out a dry laugh as he continued, /"She’s the meanest girl I’ve ever seen. She’s so childish and immature and.. And she’s always hitting on my-my... /"

/"His husband,/" Sunny finished his sentence.

/"Shut the hell up Hippo!/" he spat with irritation.

/"Guys phfft- Stop,/" Emaya couldn’t help laughing at how hilarious they are but she continued, looking at Ryan, /"But let’s not say bad about her behind her back./"

/"I was just speaking some truest facts,/" Ryan shrugged.

Emaya fell silent as she turned to the sane one with a questioning look. Mina heaved out a sigh and explained, /"Well, it’s just... He hates her a bit too much./"

/"Well of course, she’s tryna steal his man,/" Sunny elbowed him, provoking him on purpose.

/"Are you tired of living?/" Ryan shot her a threatening glare.

/"I’m just speaking some truest facts,/" She shrugged.

Ryan face-palmed. Emaya couldn’t help but shake her head, laughing, looking at Mina’s done face. Although she didn’t know who they were talking about, she finds it funny how they were teasing him for having a crush on a guy and how embarrassed he was to admit it.

Speaking of a guy, Emaya was once gain reminded of the cold guy she saw earlier. She started at the trio for a moment, wanting to ask about black hooded guy who still didn’t left her mind, but at the end, she couldn’t and continued munching on her sandwich.

The bell rang, everyone headed back to their classes. Emaya excused herself from the comical trio and went to look for Freyah. She looked around a bit but couldn’t find her. She headed back to the classroom, worried for her new friend and sighed. However, as she reached the classroom door, it took her by surprise when she saw Freyah standing outside the door as if not wanting to enter.

/"Freyah? /" Emaya called her out from behind.

Freyah almost got startled and quickly wiped her tears before turning to face Emaya.

/"Are you okay?/" Emaya hurriedly stepped forward and held her hand.

/"Ye-... Yeah I am.. Okay,/" Freyah replied, trying not to make an eye contact with Emaya.

/"Freyah, It’s okay. I’m here,/" Emaya gave her a reassuring look while Freyah stared at her in awe. However, they were interrupted by the same voice.

/"Can you guys stand aside from the door if you want to keep chattering? You know It’s annoying for others, right?/" Diana came out of nowhere with her two minions following her around with the same bitchy face, ready to start making a fuss.

Freyah lowered her head while Emaya turned around to face her. They weren’t even blocking the doorway. Emaya was already annoyed by her behaviour. When It came to her, Diana is probably the one messing with Freyah, putting such a filthy note in her locker, She got even more displeased.

/"We are clearly not in anyone’s way. You know? interrupting someone just to speak your nonsense is annoying for others, right? There’s still plenty of space for you. Get in or get lost./" Emaya leered at her.

Diana suddenly fell silent. She wasn’t expecting the bold reply from a humble looking newbie and pursed her lips while her minions act surprised as if they’re badly humiliated.

Emaya shook her head and walked into the classroom, holding Freyah’s hand, not paying them any mind, sitting down when her eyes met with the trio who were watching them from the inside.

/"Woah gurrrl/" Mina acted surprised, Sunny acting like a proud mom while Ryan gave her thumbs up, all of them extremely amused. Diana couldn’t bear it any longer and stomped her feet, letting out her breath in a huff and got in the classroom along with her minions. Totally pissed off.

The First day of school was over in the blink of an eye. The hallway once again filled with tons of students ready to go home. Every ear filled with the sound of multiple conversations going off at once and the lockers opening and closing.

Emaya bid her new friends goodbye before leaving the building. Without resting for a single minute. Emaya rushed to the Cafe, she recently started working when she moved into the town, not wanting to be late, running as fast as possible.

Emaya tried to be active at work even though she was feeling tired. She kept getting distracted by the thoughts of the black hooded boy every now and then. She didn’t know why he kept coming back into her mind and tried to toss aside the thoughts of him, trying to focus on work.

However, after a tiring day at work. She picked the thoughts of him back up before leaving the cafe. It was now evening, the sunset had radiated across the cloud, turning it molten orange with bands of pink. Watching the horizon drain of colours, she hurried home before it turned dark. The thought of her cold-hearted step father making her frantic with worry as she didn’t want to be scolded for coming home late and not serving him food on time.

She quickened her pace as she walked through the streets she was still not familiar with. Almost all the houses were identical in the sub urban area. It soon turned dark making it harder for her to see the house numbers. After wandering here and there for almost half an hour, alone in the dark streets, she became really flurried. She didn’t notice how much time has passed before finally finding her house.

Emaya sighed in relief, but soon it turned into fright as she realized the time. She held her breath, the fear seemed to rise behind her eyes. She stood for a couple seconds before stepping in the house, preparing herself to face her cold hearted step- father. She closed the door behind her and flinched as she found her stepfather, standing right in front of her, his arms crossed.

He had a hawkish air about him. Even his nose was curved and beaky. He had eyes of palest blue that fixed you in ice should you dare disagree or talk out of turn. Along with ice, there was also a raging fire as his drunk eyes held a hint of redness, filled with anger as he inquired through gritted teeth, /"Where were you?/"

Under his pricing glare, Emaya felt herself at a loss for words as the colour quickly drained from Emaya’s face as tried to stutter out her words, /"I-... I was—/"

/"WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU!?/"
