#Chapter36
Aphrodite
/"I have a question for you,/" I say quietly. This might get me into trouble, but frankly I don’t give a damn.
Ares stops walking, and I keep my eyes on the sand to avoid his scrutinizing gaze.
/"About?/" He asks, his voice almost deceptively pleasant.
I let out a deep breath. /"Please don’t hurt me for this, but why is your tribe so barbaric? Do you know how far one can get with simple kindness?/"
Ares barks out a laugh, tugging my body close to his.
/"People don’t fuck with what they fear, Aphrodite. Everyone is far to scared of me to ever challenge me. Jesus, even the law is afraid to come for me./"
I shake my head.
/"People also protect what they love with their dying breaths,/" I point out, frustrated that he always resorts to violence so easily.
