Secure the Mine

After everyone got situated, new outfits and weapon upgrades, they had a mission to complete. Securing the launch site for Amity Tower. The mission was simple, clear out the abandon mine and prepare it for the launch. A Geist was taking refuge inside the mines, and it needed to be eliminated. But while the Ace Ops, Team RWBY, and JNPR take care of that, Ryder and Kairos had a side mission. Locate the last Dragon Ball. It was a side mission because Team RK was also taking part in the mission to secure the launch site. Ryder even gave the mission a name, Operation: Rising Star. Right now, Ryder and Kairos flew alongside the Manta Airships that contained their allies who couldn't fly. Ryder had the Dragon Radar secured in a pouch on his belt. 

Ryder watches as Team RWBY jump out of their Manta alongside Harriet and Marrow. They were heading for the front entrance. Team JNPR, Elm and Vine were heading for a separate entrance. Ryder and Kairos were joining Clover and Qrow at a different entrance to the mine. Eventually, Clover and Qrow disembarked from their airship as Ryder and Kairos descended from the sky. The four of them land in the same spot. Once they landed, Clover pressed a finger onto his earpiece to address the others over comms. 

"This is Alpha Squad, LZ's clear. Proceeding on foot." Clover reports. "You've all got fancy new scrolls so don't forget to use them. Keep your eyes and ears open. I want an update if you encounter the target. Alpha out." 

Ryder grabbed the Dragon Radar and activated it. Clover glanced down at the device. 

"Let us know if you see anything." Clover instructed. 

"Will do." 

With that, the group walks into the mines. The walk was mostly quiet, but Ryder zoned out as he focused on the Dragon radar. After a few moments of walking, he turned it off and put the radar away. The mine had colorful crystals lining the walls, signaling the Dust that still remained within its walls. Ryder looked around taking everything in. 

"Gotta say, still not really used to working with other Huntsmen in the field." Qrow said. 

"But you were on a team before, weren't you?" Clover asked. 

"Long time ago." Qrow answered. "I just found working alone tends to be for the best." 

"Well i think that's a shame." Clover comments. 

Qrow then trips on something but Clover catches him and helps him back up to a stable position. Humored, Clover gets onto comms. The group continued to walk down the tunnel in a tight formation. 

"Alpha here, give me an update." Clover ordered. 

"The connecting ice tunnels seem clear." Vine reports over comms. "We should be approaching the actual mine any minute now. Any signs of the last Dragon Ball?" 

Clover looked at Ryder who shook his head saying no. 

"Negative." Clover said. 

"Bravo checking in. Hit a bit of a snag." Harriet said over comms. "there's been a cave-in in the main entrance. Not sure if it was recent or if it was caused by the original accident. Either way we'll have to do a little problem solving." 

"Understood. Let us know if you need anything." Clover said. 

Clover then stopped walking and looked at Ryder. 

"Anything vital we should know about these Orbs?" Clover asked. 

"I've told you basically all the vital stuff. Only thing really noteworthy is that Shenron has a limited amount of power. While it is vast, he has his limits." Ryder said. 

"And if we can't wish away Salem's immortality?" Clover asked. 

"Already thought about that." Ryder said. "In some fiction back home, there existed sealing techniques with Magic. Maybe I can replicate that to seal her away if the Dragon Balls don't work." 

"That could work." Qrow comments. 

"This is Bravo!" Harriet reports over comms in urgency. "We found the target, but it fled deeper into the mine! Engaging sentinels!" 

Ryder looked at Clover. 

"Mind if I uh..." Ryder asked, his voice fading away. 

Clover knew what he wanted to do. Teleport to Bravo. 

"Go for it." Clover said. 

Ryder nods before placing two fingers on his forehead. Kairos walked over and placed his hand on Ryder's shoulder before He then teleports directly to Team RWBY, Harriet and Marrow. He disappears and reappears in a separate part of the tunnel. He appeared right in front of Ruby before he turned to the Sentinels that were approaching. He counted five. He then grins before chambering Lightning Dust into his gauntlets. He then activates his magic before launching a barrage of lightning bolts from his fingers at the Grimm. The Lightning was stronger than normal thanks to the Magic enhancements, and it killed the Sentinels. Ryder stops the lightning and turns to the others. Kairos remains vigilant. 

"Figured you guys could use a helping hand." Ryder said. 

"Not bad." Harriet comments with a smile. 

Then comms lit up with Clover's voice. It was urgent. 

"This is Alpha! We've engaged the target!" Clover reports over comms. "All squads head towards out position!" 

"Let's go!" Kairos said before running down the tunnel. 

The group runs after him. After a bit of running, they hear Clover on comms again. 

"Target escaped. Last seen heading east." Clover reports. 

With that report, they do their best to head east before he returns to comms. 

"Charlie, Bravo. You should be able to cut off the target at the heart of the mine." Clover mentions. "Qrow and I won't be far behind." 

With that Ryder leads the group to the heart of the mine. By the time they arrive they see a ton of Dust in the surrounding chamber which was massive. Ryder's eyes widened seeing all the dust. 

"That's a lot of Dust." Ryder mumbled. 

"Guys!" Ruby calls out, seeing Team JNPR, Vine and Elm. 

"Everyone use caution!" Vine alerts. "This room is highly active with Dust energy. Triggering it could ruin the launch site." 

"And blow us to kingdom come. Why is that second for you?" Ryder asked, surprised by his choice of words. 

"For some reason it's always second with him." Marrow comments. 

They hear rocks moving and all look up to see the Geist attached to the ceiling. It eventually drops down and crushed a stone bridge in the center of the room. It kicks up a tone of debris and dust. Not the crystal and elemental kind the dirt kind. Once the Geist stands up, they all notice something. 

"It added Dust to its body?" Ruby asked, shocked to see it. 

"Kairos!" Ryder called out. 

Kairos looked at him. 

"Plan 15. Stasis." Ryder ordered. 

Kairos nods before he puts his hands together. A violet energy coats his hands before he pushed the energy towards the Geist, the violet energy shoots at the Geist and wraps around its body holding it in place. 

"Do it Ryder!" Kairos shouted. 

Ryder activates his Semblance going into Amplify: Stage 1 and going to 5X. The green aura appears around his body before he runs forward at high speeds. Ryder then leaps upwards and lands on the Geist's face. He grabbed the mask and pulled with all his might. Ejecting the Geist from its stone body, the Geist is now exposed. Kairos let's go of the Geist's body and forms a spear from violet energy before throwing it at the Geist. The spear rips right through the Geist killing it. Ryder lands and the Geist's former body collapses into pieces with shards of Dust going everywhere. 

"Oh shit!" Ryder cursed. 

He then goes straight to 10X and flew around the room grabbing the shards at blinding speeds. After taking care of the Dust shards, he lands on the ground and sets the Dust crystals down. His friends were in awe while the Ace Ops were impressed. Clover and Qrow had arrived and watched Ryder finish up. The two then climb down from their elevated level and met with the others in the middle of the large room. 

"Not bad." Harriet compliments. "Seems Team RK is better than we thought." 

"Yes, it seems we underestimated you two." Vine said calmly. 

"You should see them at their peaks." Yang said. 

"Wait, that wasn't them at full power?" Marrow asked. 

Clover puts his finger on his earpiece and informs Mission control that the mission was accomplished, and the launch site was secured.
