The next day, her Gamma came into her office.
"Sky, what's up?"
"I found my mate, and I'd like you to approve our union."
"Sure."
"But here's the thing, she's human."
"That's not a problem. Send her in."
He went to go get her.
"Aya?"
"Tisiphone?"
"You're his mate?"
"Scratch that, you're a werewolf? And here I was expecting some scary guy who's never smiled a day in his life. But more importantly, you're a werewolf?"
"Yeah."
"Since when?"
"The day I was born. There's no such thing as turning someone into one like in movies, you know."
"How come you never told me or the others?"
"It's supposed to be a secret. Takumi only knew because technically, he caught me red-handed."
"Now that I know, are you going to brainwash me or torture me to keep me quiet?"
"Ok, first of all, don't believe the stuff you see in movies. Most of it is a load of bull. Second, no. This is a peaceful pack, not a tyrannical one, and you're lucky that you didn't end up in one because human mates aren't treated well. And third, just let me explain what's going to happen from here on out, ok?"
"Ok."
"When a wolf has a mate who isn't a wolf there are two ways to go about it. The first one only applies to humans. Either he leaves the pack, and you start your life together. Or you and your family move into the pack and one of the witches or wizards here will erase all memories of you guys from people's minds except any people you might want to visit from time to time. But you'll have to come up with something if they ask where you moved to or anything like that, make sure it's somewhere far away, so they rule out the idea of visiting. Both ways are to make sure that our existence is kept a secret. How big is your family?"
"It's just my parents and brother. We don't have any extended family."
"Then moving to the pack shouldn't be a problem. But I'll leave that to you two to decide."
"Say, how come this place is so huge, and yet only five families live here?"
"It wasn't always like this. The whole pack used to live here. After my mom died, everyone thought it would be best to stay out of my dad's way, so they moved to the packhouse, and the ones with families moved to regular houses. The only ones that stayed were the Beta, Gamma, Delta and Epsilon families and the pack elders because they're part of the council and they swore loyalty when they were appointed. After a few years, my dad said that everyone was welcome to move back, but they said that they were happy where they were and moving can be a real bitch because of how much work it is."
"Maybe you and Rengoku should finally have kids so this place won't feel so empty. Speaking of, are he and I the only humans here?"
"Nope. In this pack, 80% of the population are wolves, about 5% are humans, and the remaining 15% is split between hybrids, vampires, witches and demons who either live here because they're mates of one of the wolves or because of a treaty I have with their rulers. The fae aren't exactly friendly with anyone."
"If only 5% are humans, then how do things work?"
"If you mean in terms of safety, they have their mates to protect them. But also, as assurance, they're under the Alpha's protection, which is me in this case. But like I said, this is a peaceful pack, so you'll be fine."
"Oh, for a second there I was worried. What about commerce?"
"There are all different kinds of stores and facilities here, including stores, schools and farms, so everyone pretty much has what they need here and more. It's a very large pack. There are a few facilities outside the pack as well. But if you want to go out of the pack for whatever reason, all you need is my permission. But running everything keeps me busy a lot, so check the bulletin board outside my office. It'll tell you what times I'm free and in my office. About approving your union, all you and Sky need to do is fill in this form, and I'll put my seal of approval as soon as I can. It's like applying for a marriage certificate, you'll be officially recognised as mates. Afterwards, you just pick a date for your mating ceremony. It'll be done by me. Any more questions?"
"No, for now. When's Takumi coming back?"
"In about eight days."
"I'm sure that you're excited, even if you're not showing it."
Her phone rang and it was Takumi.
"Mind if I take this?"
"Go ahead. I can wait."
She answered it.
"What's up?"
"Are you in your office?"
"Yeah, why?"
"I mailed something to you. It should be arriving right about now." There was a knock on the door.
"Ok?" She went to open the door. "But how did you..." She opened the door, and there was Takumi.
"I have my ways."
