Chapter 27: Hell Hath No Fury

The crowds dispersed, the rogues were released, and Aster hung back to speak to them in plain view of the people that were still milling about. The three men thanked him heavily, and he told them to think nothing of it, with a cautious look in his eye that begged them not to speak of the truth of what happened here. The understanding passed between them, and Aster allowed the last of the King’s guards to escort him back into the palace. He dismissed them when they reached the main hall, deciding to journey to his fiancé’s chambers alone.

Aster was still pissed. He was no longer covering his foul mood with a fake smile. In fact, he was certain his expression was rather murderous, because any servant that found themselves in the path of his commanding, motivated strut, seemed to be motivated themselves; to move as quickly and submissively out of his way as possible. One poor serving girl peeled off so quickly she tripped over her own skirts and nearly fell.
