Chapter 41: The Sun, The Star, and The Satellite

Of all the unexpected things to happen that night, Eddie showing up was certainly not the last of them. As Aster and Jace stole away from the party into a more secluded part of the garden, they found another surprise waiting for them in a sparsely lit archway by the garden’s side gate.

Tucked away into the shadows, wearing a beautiful sky-blue gown and silver cowl and hood, was none other than Nathalya Rane.

“Nat!” Aster barked a shocked laugh, and ran up to hug his friend. When smiled and tucked her arms around him, he caught a whiff of her usual rosemary and mint, but it was overshadowed by a mix of sweet caramel and tart raspberry. He gasped and pulled back when he realized why. “You’re not wearing your oil anymore!”

She grinned at him with a shrug. “I figured my reason for wearing it didn’t quite matter anymore.”

Jace gaped at her for a moment before he looked at Eddie. “Umbra, you are insane.”
