CHAPTER 3 His brother

I woke up with a throbbing headache, the aftermath of my hangover.

Turning over, I found a guy with blond hair and green eyes sitting beside me. He handed me a cup of water and some medication.

"Take this; it'll help with your hangover," he offered.

"Thanks. Who are you?" I inquired.

"You don't remember me?" he asked.

"I'm afraid not. It seems I've lost my memories," I admitted.

"It's alright. I'm Jeremy," he introduced himself.

"Jeremy? How come no one told me about you?" I wondered.

"I'm hardly around," he explained.

Just then, as I spoke, he leaned closer to my face.

"I don't know why he left you like this. He could have done what was best for you and everyone," Jeremy said cryptically.

"What does that mean?" I inquired.

"It's nothing important," he brushed it off.

Heading to the bathroom, I could feel his eyes on me. I let out a sigh of relief when I shut the bathroom door.

Returning to the room, Jeremy was nowhere to be found. I hadn't even heard the door close. Was I seeing things or had I imagined him? Maybe it was the lingering effects of last night's drinking.

Shaking off those thoughts, I decided to focus on something more important: meeting this Dylan guy. But first, I needed to change my clothes; I was still wearing the silk nightdress from yesterday.

Walking over to the closet, I discovered it was a walk-in closet filled with expensive-looking clothes. I couldn't find anything simple, so I settled on a short, flared white gown and a pair of black flats. My hair looked rough when I attempted a ponytail, so I left it down.

Heading downstairs, I stopped at a door that never seemed to be open and noticed it had a padlock on it. Just as I was about to touch the door, Jake's hand stopped me.

"What were you about to do?" he asked.

"Nothing. Why is that door closed?" I questioned.

"I don't really know much about it myself. He never lets anyone enter," Jake replied.

"Who?" I pressed.

"Dylan," he revealed.

"Oh," I nodded in understanding.

"You look better today," Jake complimented.

"What? Was I ugly yesterday?" I teased.

"No, no. You look good in that dress," he clarified.

"Thank you," I replied.

He then led me downstairs, where I approached Caytln.

"Hi," I greeted her.

However, she simply ignored me and walked away.

"What did I do? Why is she mad at me?" I asked Jake.

"You offended her last night," he informed me.

"Oh no, I was drunk," I realized.

"She's someone who's always nice but doesn't take insults lightly," Jake explained.

"I should apologize," I decided.

"After you eat," he suggested.

"Okay," I agreed.
