The Baroness Misbehaves

Alaric, who was informed about the Fiend invading his palace, smirked at the outcome of his plan coming into place. To avoid putting his people into distress, Alaric had to cut the evening short by using his father's health condition as an excuse to end the charity ball.

As confused as his guests were, and those of the council who were waiting to have a private conversation with him regarding the question he had asked during the gathering they had, they knew there was no way to go ahead with the conversation once His Majesty had made the decision to end the night, and by ending the event means ending everything else they had to offer tonight.

"Are you sure about this?" Theresa asked her husband with concern displaying in her eyes, and Alaric, who stood at the top of long stairs watching the guest exit the building, exhaled through his nostril before standing straight, his arms folded behind his back.
