Chapter 2.

As i fell i suddenly felt a freezing gust rush around me and i opened my eyes looking around i saw snowcaps surrounded me. As i fell i turned and immediately braced myself as i saw myself hurtling toward the ground. i shut my eyes before i hit the ground and i felt something wrap around me and it yanked me into the sky as i looked up i could do nothing but stare as a massive black and blue dragon carried me into the sky. I clung for dear life at its scales as i looked around the sky stretching endlessly as i could see birds shifting colors from red to green and yellow. I could hear laugher and felt the dragons body shake "is it your first time embracing the wind boy? No fear walk along my back and find your place." I looked around looking for the source of the voice before realizing it was the dragon. I nodded and crawled along his back until i sank into a groove by his neck immediately the pressure of the wind ripping at me lessoned and i slid my hands under the scales in front me grabbing hold of the ones under it as my body was pressed to his neck. "You're actually a dragon. And you can talk." I said it plainly as the giant beast chuckled i was washed in a sense of amusement before he dived gliding down to a plateau in front of a cave by the side of the mountain i fell to the ground feeling a strange reluctance and disappointment from getting off the dragon as i heard the tapping of a cane turning towards the cave a man dressed in a black hooded cloak the hems and the back bearing no sleeves and no shirt as he stroked his beard "bahamut you have never brought a human here. Is he what i suspect?" The dragon flapped his wings once before folding them against his sides "you are a trained dragon master and i am over 3 millenia old yet i do not allow you to ride upon my back yet i allowed him. I find your question meaningless. I brought him here to you for you are one of the last able to teach him to ride a dragon of my element and power." He walks off into the cave pausing at the entrance next to the old man as he laughs the dragon turns back to look at me. "Look back at your short flight. You will not embrace the wind again until you have earned it. I will be watching your training." I look at the old man as the dragon leaves and he walks over to me helping me up as he looks at my clothing "seems our worlds plight is more than the gods could bear. Come lad lets get you something to eat. I will not pry. Im sure you need some time to process the change." I followed him silently as i was already lost in my thoughts. "what in the hell happened. Why is there a dragon how is this real..." I look up at the old man realizing he isnt surprised about me. "Do you know something sir?" He laughed and gestured to the ground by a fire as he approached a large black and blue dragon. "Young man you are not the first men from another world to be brought here. It is only done by the gods when there is need for a change. This country has been at war with itself for years on three fronts. Ever since the dragon master ceremony 100 years ago things have gotten worse. An apprentice killed his master and stole his dragon after feeling his own dragon inadequate. He escaped in the commotion and now he leads one of the factions armies but there have been sightings of enslaved dragons and his kind have been seen capturing wild dragons as well." I sit down and look at the dragon that had caught me getting a sense of nostalgia as i remembered the flight and sinking into the section of his neck. Turning to the old man i look at him "you say dragon master what is that?" He smiled his eyes shining bright as they glowed a cold wind filling the cave "a dragon master is one whose body mind heart and soul are bound with a dragon essentially a human embodiment of a dragon. We share the power of these noble beasts. They are not friends pets companions or advisors. They are our brothers and sisters. The dragon masters duty is to preserve and protect the balance using the great power a true dragon master can wield." He gestured to his cloak " i am a rider of the wind and lightning. One of the strongest and rarest riders as well. The dragon you rode is bahamut. He is a storm dragon but he is a son of the storm dragon king who was lost 2 millenia ago. He will not let you ride him until you are ready." I look at him "what do you mean i am ready.... Are you saying i can become a dragon... Master is it?" The old man nods "sleep on it lad for now join me for some rabbit stew." I nodded and he filled two bowls from a cauldron heated over the fire. I listened to him talk with his dragon as i ate. As i finished my bowl i set it down and walked over to the one that had saved me. I looked him in his eyes the swirling blue reminding me of the clearest sapphires. "Your name is bahamut right. Thank you for saving me." I bow my head slightly and feel the same wave of amusement washing over me. I go and sit against the wall of the cave and loom at the entrance for a bit before falling asleep.
