Chapter 7

I woke slowly feeling warm as i smelt a mixture of roses and a campfire before feeling the weight of a body on top of me i opened my eyes looking down and finding valkyrie asleep on my chest i froze instantly as i hear bahamut and rose chuckling i talked with him 'what the hell did you do' i turned bright red as i felt her move on me keeping my arms perfectly still around her waist as bahamut talked 'i just brought you here after telling rose where we'd be shes the one that put her on top of you. I convinced her to leave you twos clothes on at least' i growled softly before calming down and focusing on keeping absolutely still so i wouldnt wake her. I stayed frozen for an hour until she sat up straddling me i held both my hands up as she looked down turning bright red as she scrambled off of me and i stood up "i swear by the gods i didnt have anything to do with this" she nods "i i i believe you im sure rose was responsible. Im honestly surprised we still have clothes on with how she is." I gulped walking over holding out my waterskin "thats uh thanks to bahamut he just let her put you on top of me."i cleared my throat as she took it in both hands drinking slowly before handing it back to me "t thank you" i smiled rubbing the back of my neck "no problem." I straighten up my cloak "so uh when you leave the citadel where uh... Where you headed?" She walked over to rose adjusting the straps on her saddle "i havent decided yet i was going to stay here a couple more days. You?" I look up at the sky smiling "ive gotta find some old friends so my teacher told me to head for serelval. That nation is still friendly with the dragon masters so its my best bet to find them without having to hide." She smiled "be careful in cities where dragon masters are still respected. We tend to get grouped up on and asked for all sorts of things or are given offerings." I chuckle "yeah ill be careful besides if i need help ill just call for bahamut to swoop in and grab me" she smiled before coming over holding her hands behind her back a slight blush tinging her cheeks a light red "well if we happen to meet up out there maybe we could camp together and travel for a while." I smiled "id like that" blushing I'd kiss her cheek before walking over and pulling myself up onto bahamut pulling up the hood of my cloak as i laid against his scales almost completely vanishing amongst them as he took off and flew down to the citadel landing in the cities square jumping down i went to meet my teacher smiling as i was patted on the back by several dragon masters. Sitting down across from him he slid me a flagon of mead smiling "still setting out today huh my boy."i smiled and took a drink. "Yes i've got to find my friends. At least to know they're okay." He nodded and began to stroke his beard "i figured as much so i got some supplies ready for you." I nodded and smiled "thank you teacher" he laughed and smiled "you know i saw you and valkyrie last night while you two were dancing. Should i prepare for a wedding" i choke on my mead coughing as i look at him "what the hell old man. Look we danced yeah but i dont know if it will go farther or not." He laughs "that kiss said otherwise but i wont push you. Your supplies are stored at the stables be safe and return home often." I nod and smile finishing my flagon as i get up touching his shoulder as i leave walking with bahamut going down the mountain to the stables finding the ones he set aside for me i smiled arranging it all on bahamut before climbing into the saddle. We take off flying as a horn sounds announcing our departure climbing into the sky as we soared among the clouds. During the day i would train practicing my movements and magic control as we flew. Our first rest coming 3 days after our departure we landed by a lake and i set up camp taking off everything except the saddle at bahamuts request. As i cooked some of the salted meat i leaned back against bahamut letting the scales cover my fore arms "sometimes it feels like i can fully become a dragon." Bahamut chuckled "the dragon masters who have such a connection with their dragons that they can grow scales are few and the ones who can completely bond with their dragon number even fewer." I look up at him "fully bond what do you mean?" He bends his neck looking down at me his gaze meeting and holding mine "it is when a dragon master and their dragon share one heart and mind. They are connected completely and their power is unmatched. The dragon will undergo an evolution as well and certain physical traits of the dragon master will be changed." I nod thinking about what he said as i ate, laying down as he went to hunt and falling asleep. I awoke an hour later as i was surrounded by bandits my spear behind them as one held a blade to my throat i sat up putting my arm on my knee staring down the one with his blade to my throat "yall must seriously be idiots. Take a good look at what im wearing" the one with the blade pressed it against my throat "youre wearing a dragon master cloak but i dont see any dragon around" i smile as lightning encircles me and i knock away his blade my eyes glowing as i stand "who says i need him to fight you." Bahamut steps out from the woods a deer hanging from his mouth dripping with blood as he bites it in half the torso and head falling to the ground as i call down lightning thunder cracking as i make it spread knocking out each of the bandits as the lightning jumps from metal to metal on their body. I then tie them up and lay back against bahamut holding my spear against my shoulder "well looks like we could make some cash in the city by bringing these guys in at least." He nodded curling around me and stretching out his wing to make an impromptu tent "we are 2 days journey from the city rest isravor we will not be disturbed again" i nod falling asleep easily next to him.
