Chapter 29

Lara smiled as she hung up the phone with Shawn because Shawn had just confirmed that he had made the necessary modifications to the serum formula that she had sent him and that it should work to temporarily stabilize Jacob's Digital-DNA. Lara was currently using the serum formula as a basis for a permanent solution, though progress was slow until Anthony was removed from the board.

Anyway, she was currently ordering mass production of the serum for the M.R.C. Applied sciences division because she wanted to make sure that they always had enough of the serum so that Anna wouldn't have to worry about running out of it. This was done so that Anna wouldn't have to worry about running out of the serum.

Nevertheless, she was startled out of her reflections when an alarm went off and one of her technicians entered the room.

"What exactly is going on here?" Lara asked.

"Dr. Lara, the stasis pod is not functioning properly in some way. Its mechanisms that maintain life are starting to break down "the technician explained.

"Take her out of there as soon as you can." Lara lost her cool.

"There is no way. There is an issue with the mechanism that controls the release. The pod is unable to be opened." The technician said this as Lara ran past her because she knew that without the life support systems of the pod, it wouldn't be long before Anna either froze to death or suffocated inside that pod, and she did not want to be the one to tell Microsoft X that another X Warrior had died on her watch. The technician said this as Lara ran past her because she knew that she would not want to be the one to tell Microsoft X that another X Warrior had died on

Lara was perplexed when she got to the pod and heard some kind of screaming coming from within it.

"What exactly is going on here?" Lara inquired while attempting to determine how this defect could have occurred; however, the screams that she was hearing were deafening and made it difficult for her to concentrate.

"Would the person who is screaming just be quiet for a moment?" Lara stated.

"What exactly are you talking about, Mister, and why? Nobody is yelling, is there?" It was said by one of the technicians.

"What? It is really loud." Lara stated that she was going to figure things out later but that her top priority right now was to make sure that Jacob remained alive.

Within her head, she heard a voice say, "Please assist me." Lara questioned, "Who?"

After hearing the voice say, "I'm trying to keep him alive, but I'm in too much pain to focus on that," Lara finally understood what was going on. "I'm trying to keep him alive," the voice said.

She was picking up on the voice of the pod.

"Tell me what's wrong with you," the doctor said. Lara said it in a hushed voice since she didn't want her subordinates to think she was insane as the machine began explaining to her what was causing it pain and what was causing it to malfunction.

"The energy regulators are malfunctioning, which results in the pod obtaining an excessive amount of energy. By switching to the backup power source, you should be able to reduce the amount of power that is stored in the pod's circuitry, allowing it to resume normal operation." Lara gave the order to her technicians, and they obeyed it without questioning her because they had just done as she said and reduced the amount of energy produced by the generators. As Lara had predicted, this resulted in the life support systems of the pod being brought back online. Lara wanted to know, "How is Jacob's vital status?"

"Both his core temperature, which has begun to fall below what is considered safe, and his air supply are beginning to decrease. We were able to stabilize the pod, but the systems that maintain its life support are showing signs of strain "It was said by one of the technicians.

"Take him out of there immediately. Now." Lara lost her temper as she tried to determine what had gone wrong in the first place because she was certain that she had previously taken into account this variable.

"Right away ma'am. We will get in touch with the Microsoft X right away." Lara acknowledged what the techs had said with a nod.

"Have we prepared a dose of the serum for him to administer?" Lara asked.

"Yes. We have just completed the synthesis of the serum, and it has been verified that the pod was successful in halting the progression of her cells' degeneration to an extent that allows the serum to be effective "a third technician said.

"Get some up here as soon as possible. When Jacob finally comes to, I want him to be in a state of perfect stability, so we won't have to put him back in the pod " Lara stated.

When Jacob finally opened his eyes, he saw that he had become quite cold.

"What exactly is going on here?" Jacob inquired as his teeth were literally chattering due to the extreme cold he was experiencing. After that, he came to the conclusion that he was drenched and covered in blankets.

"Jacob, try to remain calm." Anthony remarked this as she looked over and spotted his daughter standing on the opposite side of his pod in the medical facility.

"What came to pass? Why am I feeling this frigid?" Jacob had a question.

"I'm sorry, but there was a problem with your stasis pod, Jacob. You were really close to losing your cool. Although Lara was successful in getting it back online and extracting you from the area, you are suffering from hypothermia." Microsoft X stated.

"So that means I can't go back into it now, right?" Jacob had a question.

"Yes, but there is no longer any need for you to. You should be stable for the time being thanks to the temporary treatment that Lara was able to inject into you; nevertheless, you will need to continue taking this medication on a daily basis in order to keep yourself stable while we look for a permanent solution." Microsoft X stated.

"I take it that my time in that pod is up?" Jacob had a question.

"Yes Jacob, you are. You are able to reclaim your life." Jacob smiled as Microsoft X made the statement.

"Oh, thank god." Jacob said as he became aware that someone was absent. "Where are you, Greg?" Jacob had a question.

"At MRX discussing what happened in the pod with Scotty," the log entry reads. According to Microsoft X.

When will it be possible for me to leave this place and get back to the game? Jacob had a question.

"Once the temperature of your body has returned to normal." Anthony uttered those words as she gazed down at her friend and comrade, overjoyed to see that he was still alive.

Microsoft X grinned as well, despite the fact that he was aware of the fact that he needed to discuss with Jacob the importance of limiting the use of his abilities until they could locate a treatment that would be permanent. But for the time being, all that mattered to him was the fact that one of his warriors was still alive.
