Chapter 53

When Nell's phone rang, he was on his way back to his flat.

"What's going on, Robert?" Nell inquired.

"Remember how we decided to monitor the members of the evil cabal?" Robert inquired.

"Yeah, but why?" Nell inquired, even though he was already on his way to retrieve his suit, and he made a mental note to take his suit to Cisco to see if he could create him one of those rings for heroes, saving him the extra trip.

"Well, I believe the Headsman is making his first move." Robert stated.

"Which bastard will he go for first?" Nell inquired.

"He did the same thing last time. Rattis." Robert stated.

"I'm on my way in now, villains after villains. Prepare a venue for me to visit." Nell stated.

"You got it," said Robert.

"See you later," Nell said.

"I'm excited to see you kick the Headsman's ass again." Robert stated.

"In fact, I'm hoping to avoid an ass kick." Nell stated.

"Who are you, and what do you have against Larnell Gross?" Robert inquired.

"What I mean is that killing Rattis and the others gives them too much leeway. I propose that we send them all to M.R.C. Prison and let them rot among the other individuals they unfairly sentenced there. That, I'm sure, will be more than enough punishment." Nell stated.

"All right, it sounds more like you." Nell rolled her eyes as Robert acknowledged her.

Rattis was walking out to his car when he narrowly avoided being hit by an electrical pole.

"What the hell happened? Was this something entirely new?" Rattis demanded, irritated.

"Rattis Elliot," shouted a weird voice, and Rattis turned to see a man dressed as a medieval executioner standing next to a fire hydrant, with an axe.

"Did you do it?" Rattis inquired.

"You're lucky I didn't slice open your skull," the man continued.

"Who or what are you?" Rattis inquired.

"My name is Headsman." According to the Headsman.

"A memorable name. But what exactly do you want? I didn't hire a hitman "Rattis inquired.

"For you to pay for your misdeeds," replied the Headsman.

"What are you on about? I'm a political office holder. I assist in the incarceration of offenders." Rattis stated.

"How many of those criminals were found to be guilty?" The Headsman was questioned.

"Why should you care? Even if they weren't convicted of the charges I brought against them, I'm sure they were guilty of something. You should be right behind them in attacking me "Rattis stated.

"You rich, entitled jerk. This city needs to be rescued from filth like you. I'll be your judge. I'm your judge. Rattis Elliot, I am your Headsman, and you have been found guilty. It's time to face your punishment." Headsman yelled as he lowered his axe, but before it could strike the fire hydrant, it was deflected by a gray dagger as Kid Owl swung in to rescue the day.

"Stand down," Kid Owl instructed.

"You're defending him, of course. You have no idea what he's done." According to the Headsman.

' "I am more knowledgeable than you believe. I am aware of his widespread corruption and use of authority to exploit and harm the poor." said Kid Owl.

"And yet you continue to defend him? Why?" The Chairman demanded.

"I'm preventing you from defending him. I'm stopping you because murdering him would be giving him too much leeway. He and the others should be imprisoned with those they sentenced. After all, don't you think the ones who were offended should be the ones to punish them? Look, you'll go to prison for this, but it's only attempted murder right now, so there's a chance you'll get out someday, albeit you might need mental care, but if you kill him, that's it. You're just the next unwitting victim Rattis Elliot has converted into a criminal." " said Kid Owl.

"I'm a criminal already." Headsman stated as he lifted his hood to reveal the face of Marcus Greg, one of Jacob's men.

"I served as the M.R.C.'s executioner. I threw the switch on a slew of people, the vast majority of whom turned out to be innocent. That man and his associates made me a murderer." Marcus stated.

"Perhaps so. But you had no say in the matter. However, you now have a choice. You already have enough blood on your hands. For the time being, every fatality you've caused may be attributed to you simply attempting to perform your job. This, however, is cold-blooded murder. Do you really want that on your record?" Kid Owl inquired as he took the axe from him.

"All I wanted was for him to pay," Marcus explained.

"He certainly will. They will all." Kid Owl muttered this as he launched her grappling hook behind him, preventing Rattis from fleeing when he stood up to begin running. Kid Owl drew him closer to him.

"It's time for you to pay for your misdeeds." Kid Owl stated as he knelt in front of him, loving every minute of it, that no one was dying and justice was still being served at this time.

"Pay attention, you little b*tch. Today, I'm the victor. Nichole has a solution to your annoyance in this state "Rattis stated.

"What are you on about?" Kid Owl said.

"Everything has come together, boy. Nichole is aware of who the brains behind your activities are. All that remains is to put an end to you "Rattis stated.

"What did you do?" yelled Kid Owl, clutching Rattis' collar.

"Something must be wrong," Marcus pondered.

The cops began to pull over and swiftly get out of their cars, carrying their weapons.

"Put your hands up," one of the officers yelled.

When Marcus raised his hands, Kid Owl returned his gaze.

"Listen up, Kid Owl Jacob knows everything. You must leave immediately. I may have attempted to murder Rattis, but what is going to occur is far more significant than you realize "Marcus stated.

Another officer said, "Shut the fuck up and get on your knees!"

Kid Owl peered forward and saw that these men, even in police uniforms, looked quite familiar.

"They are not police officers, Nell. They are the Vultures ", Robert stated through his earpiece.

"But. We're on the same wavelength "One officer shot Kid Owl before he could finish his speech, and the bullet ricocheted off his costume.

The officers continued to shoot, and Kid Owl defended himself with his cape. Kid Owl looked up and fired his grappling hook to flee. Moving forward, the cops grabbed Rattis and held him to the ground while handcuffing Marcus.

"You should have kept your lips shut," one of the Vultures in disguise muttered as he cuffed Marcus.

"It was up to me to save his life, not any of you cretins. Boss may be working to stop Kid Owl, but I'm working to stop this pointless crime ", Marcus replied as he was dragged towards the automobile.

Kid Owl, who was standing on top of a roof, had no idea what was going on. This should not be happening right now. He still hasn't located Ruby.

"Robert, please meet me at King Owl's Headquarters," Kid Owl said.

"OK," Robert said.
