Energy Lines

Some time went by as the team that reached the forest quickly started to take samples and started to analyze the data. This was a bona fide forest on the surface of B1. A planet that became unlivable on a daily basis. But yet, the flora here seems to be thriving. This was really exciting for Dr. Helen. As she went there as soon as possible with the second batch of the researchers. They took all kind of gears with them and started to analyze everything about the forest.

The Probes had almost finished mapping the planet. Only 25% of it was left. The Planet was quite big. From the 3D scans, it seems that the planet was covered mostly in water with a huge continent that took a huge amount of area. But currently the most interesting part of the planet was this Forest. Although the scans showed that there were many other similar places in the continent. But this was by far the biggest they had discovered.

Dr. Helen was busy scanning the ground where the energy paths were laid up. The ground was covered in these energy paths that branched out from each of the trees and connected them. All the trees in the forest and even the foliage on the ground shared these energy links and made use of them in some way. It was like the whole forest was connected to a single grid that spanned a huge amount of area.

"These energy lines are really interesting. They don't seem to follow any traditional electrical patterns. What's flowing through them isn't electricity, It's just pure energy.", Dr. Helen concluded after she finished scanning the lines and their composition. These energy lines showed huge spikes of energy every time it pulsed. As if it was doing something that required a huge amount of energy to perform. What exactly? That was the question.

"Where are my deep scan results? I want to know how far underground these energy lines went.", Dr. Helen spoke as she looked around for answers. She was currently clad in a really high-grade vac-suit that'd protect her from almost anything.

The trees themselves were identical to the one found on the beach. They shared the same composition and pattern. These trees seem to dominate the local forest and for some reason, they were really huge. They dwarfed the escort mechs and the shuttles easily.

"Here are the deep scan results.", Someone handed a data pad to Dr. Helen.

She took it and began to read it. The deep scan results showed that the energy lines went really really deep underground. It was almost like a deep root network system for the trees. But the interesting bit was, they all connected and converged into an even thicker energy line that kept going deeper. Currently, Dr. Helen couldn't explain these energy lines and needed more specialized equipment to analyze them. Which wasn't possible because they were on a time limit.

These thing were left for researchers that would be sent for the more detailed inspection of the planets. But for now, they were on a time limit and needed to finish up the primary investigations on B1 and the other planets quickly.

The energy network that laid beneath their feet was glowing with an active pulse. It was lit up in an orange huge that presented a contrast with the soil around it. It was a majestic scene every time the energy in the ground pulsed.

"What kind of material is this? This doesn't match any of the exotics known to man. Could it be a new kind of exotic?", Dr. Helen asked as she studied the information on the energy lines. The data showed that the energy didn't really flow in a singular way. Every time it pulsed lots of energy moved around from one place to another. It was inconsistent and totally random. There was no definite source of the energy in the network or any drain. It was mostly sitting there. And moved to and from tree everytime it pulsed. It didn't make any sense. The ground beneath them had so much power but it was contained in really specific ways and couldn't be accessed through the traditional means.

This presented a real challenge for the researchers. If they could pinpoint the purpose of the energy then they could make some deductions to figure out what was going on this planet. But as that wasn't possible, they were currently at a standstill.

"Have we confimred that that other similar locations also shares the similarities?", Dr. Helen asked the person behind her.

"Yes, The Redcliff and the Jack has already finished their assessment of the other similar locations. And has confirmed that the sites share a striking similarity. The trees and the energy network are the same as it is here.", The person behind her spoke in a reporting tone.

"And they also converge into a single energy line underground?", She asked with anticipation.

"Yes, They also converge in a similar manner underground and then go deeper underground."

"Hmm, Interesting", Dr. Helen pondered for a moment before she asked again.

"Any common direction between them?"

"No, They all keep heading towards the center as far as our scanners can penetrate, but after that, we aren't sure if they converge into any singular point."

"Hmm, So there's a chance that they are converging at a singular point in effect making this a planet wide network?", She asked with gleam in her eyes. She looked like she had figured something out.

"There is that possibility, yes."

"Good, A possibility is all I need. These aren't normal trees. These trees are special. They are metallic and literally fuse elements together to grow. There's definitly more to these trees that One might think. We need to investigate the energy network. Bring out the M-Probes. Send them out to follow the energy trails and map it out underground. We're almost done with mapping the planet. With the M-Probes mapping the energy lines, We should be able to have a good idea about the situation. Send out the M-Probes.", She said in an Exciting voice with a wide grin on her face.
