Essential Personnel

After concluding the meeting with Nova, Kita decided to hire him despite his peculiarities. Although the guy didn't generate much trust for himself among others, It was fine. He was the nephew of Holland. Even if he didn't trust Nova. He trusted Holland. He would never send someone incompetent to him.

So, after taking a night's rest, and giving Nova Solis the time to settle in a bit, It was time for a meeting.

Kita called all the departments Heads and his new operations chief to a meeting room.

After everyone finished arriving and took their seats. Kita took the lead.

He stood up as he looked around the table. He began to speak.

"Hello everyone. Thanks for coming. As you guys can see there are a few new faces around the table today." Kita gestured toward Nova and Elena who weren't present at the first meeting.

"Let me introduce to you guys, Miss Elena Freed. She's a long standing acquaintance of mine and an Excellent Cyber security specialist. She'll be handling all the communications and internal network security aboard the ship." Kita said while pointing at Elena.

Everyone around the table looked impressed at her. Not everyone really understood what she would really be doing. But it was fine as long as Kita endorsed her.

"Next Up, Mr. Nova Solis. He'll be handling all the internal Operations aboard the ship. He'll be managing everything aboard the ship. If you need anything done, need anything. He's the guy you should look for." Kita introduced Nova.

Everyone sighed a relief that someone was gonna manage the internal operations aboard the ship.

"Now that that's done, let's move on to today's agenda. Mr. Noel. Please start."

"Thank you" Noel said as he started to fiddle with the tab in his hands.

The projection above the table began to project a list of documents. It showed the various things that Noel had prepared.

Noel put down the tab as he zoomed into one of the Documents.

As he focused on the documents, projections of the documents in a more readable manner appeared in front of them.

Everyone looked at the projection in front of them. There was a list of essential roles that needed to be filled aboard the ship.

"As you can see, before you is a list of essential personnel that we urgently need. Some of these roles are so important that I'm surprised that we've managed till now without them."

As he said that several of the names lit up in a green hue highlighting them from the rest.

"These are the ones we urgently need. As we now have your chief operations officer with us, I think we should start the hiring process." Noel said as he looked at Kita and Nova.

Kita didn't say anything, instead he looked at Nova. It was a good chance to see what the guy was capable of.

Nova didn't answer right away, neither did he look at Kita or Noel. He instead focused on the projection before him. It seemed that he was thinking about something.

He opened up a separate projection and began to write a few more things. It looked like he had a different idea than Noel.

Noel seemed a bit unsettled that his suggestions were being reiterated upon, but he didn't voice his dissatisfaction.

Kita noticed this development, but didn't say anything. He wanted to see how this would play out.

Nova finished typing within a few minutes. He then presented his own document in front of everyone.

He stood up as he began to speak.

"Sorry to keep you waiting. I didn't have the time to prepare for this meeting. So please understand. Mr. Noel has presented us with a pretty comprehensive list of personnel that we urgently need. While I agree with most of them, I want to make some changes to it. As you guys can see, I've highlighted the positions that aren't urgently needed and could be postponed to a later date. So, If everyone agrees, I would like to replace these positions with these positions which in my opinion is more important and should be filled first."

Everyone looked at the proposed changes. There were quite a few positions that he had removed and wanted to replace with.

For example, he wanted to replace some engineers with more specialized personnel. The rational behind this being that instead of generic people who could do many things, he wanted to hire more specialized people who could do one thing really well.

He wanted to hire some more assistant logistic officers instead of a cargo master.

There were a few other questionable choices on the list. Normally no one would think of these proposed changes. But Nova stood in front of everyone while proposing these rational changes while holding his head high.

Noel was the first to lose his cool.

"I can't agree with these changes. From the looks of it, you just want to hire more administrative personnel than technical or combat ones." Noel stated in a somewhat heated tone.

At the first glance it was true. It did seem that Nova just wanted to hire more people for his own departments instead of hiring more technical personnel.

But Nova didn't believe so.

"I understand why you might think that way, but you need to understand that just hiring a bunch of people for filling up the open positions isn't the end of things. After we've hired them we need to provide accommodations and amenities for them. We need to make sure they're able to do their jobs properly, How can we achieve that if there is none to handle this side of the work?" Nova stated with absolute certainty. He spoke in a clear crisp tone that conveyed he didn't doubt his choices.

"Still, we need to hire more technical personnel." Noel said with gritted teeth. He couldn't disagree with him.

It was true that there was a severe lack of administrative personnel. Without them, the technical people couldn't be fully utilized. To make sure that everything ran perfectly and everyone did their jobs, some of these administrative roles needed to be filled first.

"I agree with you. We do need more technical personnel, But now isn't the right time. We first need to get our house in order before we bring in new members. We need to setup our internal structure before we can create new ones. So.." He turned towards Kita

"I would like to hire people for these positions if it's alright with you." He looked at Kita as he had the final say.

Kita looked around the table. It seemed that no one had any objections. Although Noel might have some, he wasn't voicing them.

Although Nova was kinda weird, He was really good at his job. It wasn't a wonder why he left the military with honors.

"Well, I don't see any problems with this list. You can go ahead and start the recruitment process." Kita gave his go ahead to Nova.
