Monologue of Reine Murakami - I am the Devil

[Reine Murakami (Devil)'s POV]

Is someone born a villain or a hero?

Obviously not.

The concept of 'heroes' and 'villains' is as much a human construct as any other literary device. A child cannot choose whether he or she wishes to be a hero or a villain. These roles are provided to them by those who have already experienced life.

It's reasonable to assume that most little girls have had the fantasy of wanting to be saved by a prince. To be in peril, captured by a monster, to have a strong, reliable boy come to the rescue. I am no different.

Most girls find out the truth of the world slowly as they live their lives. Maybe they find out after they get their first boyfriend, or maybe they find out by taking a glimpse into the cold, dark adult world.

I would've preferred to have found out that way.

Perfect boys don't exist.

No matter how perfect you think they are, they'll find a way to destroy that vision.
