Ego and Return

"I think it's time we head back now."

I spoke out suddenly, interrupting Aiko and Mana's conversation.

There was a moment of silence before someone spoke up.

"I agree with you, Oliver," Aiko replied.

Mana shifted her gaze to me.

"Is there a specific reason you want to leave so quickly?"

"Nothing in particular. We've completed our task and I don't particularly enjoy staying in this city."

—Anymore.

I now possessed the tool I came for, so there's no point for me to stick around in this city. But, I guess if I wasn't tied down by the task, I could have stayed a bit longer.

Her shoulders drooped as she sighed.

"I guess you have a point."

Aiko let out a tired sigh.

"To be honest, I'm exhausted after these past few weeks."

As if on cue, the rescue team began to ready themselves to depart.

I think I have forgotten something.

A few people had gathered, and we walked over to join them.
