Almost 2 days had already passed. The party arrive at a small village. This is their last stop before reaching the abandoned cathedral.
Unlike Venundarr, this village is pretty lax on their guard duty due to its location being at the middle of two allied city.
One look at the medallion Alger gave is enough for the single guard to ignore the party that consist of solely humans.
"This is so much different than Venundarr. Its somehow refreshing not to see cobblestone everywhere I look." Valerie said.
"I agree. The air here is also somehow fresher." Anna replied while taking a deep breath.
"Maybe because it is surrounded by a forest and it seems farming is their primary work." Valerie said. She imitates Anna to also feel the fresh air.
"Let's find an Inn for now before asking for more information about the abandoned cathedral." Cleo intervened.
Anna and Leah utter their agreement in unison. After a two days ride, the girls already miss the comfort of a bed. They have no choice but to sleep in a sitting position due to the limited space of a public carriage.
Cleo glance at Valerie's direction to also get her confirmation. As if lost in the moment, the one eyed beauty can be seen squinting her eye, looking at something or someone.
"What's wrong Valerie?" Cleo asked. While trying to trace the trajectory where Valerie is looking at.
After a few minutes Valerie finally snap out her reverie.
"N-nothing, I thought I saw someone I knew." Valerie said. "Yes, let's go find an inn for now." she added.
After getting everyone's confirmation. Cleo scan the area nearby. Most of the house in this village are made of wood and hay, a stark contrast compare to Venundarr's cobblestone structures.
After a few minutes of strolling. The party manage to find a humble inn. It is also made with wood and hay same goes with the beds. The girls, especially Leah prefer to have a much better bed quality.
Since they have no other choice. Cleo book two rooms, one for him and Leah and the other is for Valerie and Anna.
In a crowded eatery near the inn where Cleo and his party currently residing. A handsome blonde can be seen nibbling his fingers.
'Fuck! I'm sure that's Valerie. What is she doing here and who are those with her? That bitch Camilla probably told her what we did. Is she here for revenge?' says by the handsome blonde inwardly. 'It doesn't matter when push come to shove me and Gerard can overpower them. Her companions looks young so they shouldn't pose a threat.' he added.
Arthur is not scared of Valerie or at her companions for that matter. He's more concern with the repercussions, if somehow Valerie discovered that they're the one responsible for kidnapping the second prince.
He's pretty sure Valerie will report it to the authority, not only due to her sense of justice but also because what he and the SwordSaints Guild did to her.
"What's wrong Arthur? You look pale." Gerard asked while drinking a tankard of ale.
Arthur widened his eyes in horror upon hearing the voice of Gerard.
"Wh-what the fuck are you doing here Gerard?" Arthur asked. "Where's the second prince? aren't you suppose to be on guard duty?" he added in a much lower tone of voice.
"Relax Arthur! I'm an Assassin remember? The sedative I added in his food is fairly strong and besides he's securely binded." Gerard shrugged, who's clearly intoxicated.
Arthur snaps, his stress is piling up. Seeing Valerie in the same small village and seeing Gerard drinking their worries away didn't help either.
The handsome blonde forcefully drags the intoxicated frail elf upstairs where they were keeping the second prince.
Most of the patrons ignores the two while some, especially the nosy women started murmuring.
"Lover's spat?" whispered by one of the nosy women.
"Looks serious to me." replied by another.
Arthur somehow overheard their conversation, he wanted to retort but chose not to for now. This rumor is better than people finding out that they were kidnappers.
"Look over there." whispered by the same nosy women while pointing at a newly entered young man that has a striking feature. "He looks young but he'll do." she added while licking her lips in a seductive manner.
"Are you stupid? Look at those women behind him, especially the tallest one." replied by her friend. "Even with an eye patch she looks more beautiful than you." she added.
"What a bore! She might be a little prettier than me but I'm confident with my skills."
"Whatever, do what you want. I'll just go try my chances at the handsome blonde earlier."
The two elf parted ways, the more bold looking elf immediately proceed to head at his chosen prey.
"Want to have a drink with this pretty lady?" asked by the elf.
"No thanks, we're not here to drink." Cleo said.
"I knew you ca... Wh-what?" the elf look flustered upon hearing an unexpected reply. "Don't be like that young man, I rarely initiate. You should be grateful." she added after regaining her composure.
The seductress tried to caress Cleo's cheeks however she was intercepted by Leah.
Leah grips her by her hand while glaring at her.
"How dare yo..."
The grip got tighter forcing the seductress to kneel in agony.
"W-wait! I get it now. I'll back off okay?" she pleaded.
Tears begun trickling at both of her eyes and started salivating.
"I think she already learned her lesson Leah." Cleo said. Upon noticing that almost the entire crowd inside the inn shifted their focus at their direction.
Leah reluctantly loosen her grip and eventually let the seductress go. She pouts while making a annoyed but cute sound.
"It's just a misunderstanding from both of the parties. We apologize for making a scene." Valerie announced.
Upon hearing her explanation, the patrons resume what they were previously doing. Those that were expecting a cat fight can be heard making a disappointed noise.
(A/N: I apologize for not releasing chapters these past few days. I was promoted at work and task kept piling up. As much as I want to keep releasing a 1000+ words chapter a day its impossible as of the moment. I'll still try to release a chapter whenever I can. At least 3-4 chapters a week.)
