9. Cutting it close
I started my search by hiking up a nearby trail which lead to a river following the river upstream I noticed that there were a lot of monster footprints
Following the footprints, I reached a small camp of goblins. Sneaking up behind one I snapped its neck before checking the new bestiary page
Upon discovering that they didn't lay eggs I snuck out and continued following the river
Eventually reaching the foot of a mountain I decided to climb it in search of eggs, I checked every cave but each nest had already been looted or the monster didn't lay eggs
Reaching a cave near the peak of the mountain there was a nest with two griffins and three eggs!
Rushing forwards with the shortsword in my hand I dash under one of the griffins cutting its stomach open as I slid underneath it drenching me with blood

The griffin screeched in pain causing the other griffin to wake up, seeing its partner injured the griffin used a skill that blasted wind blades at me
I only managed to deflect them because there was a slight visual distortion in the air where they were formed otherwise they were invisible
I grabbed the horn of the injured griffin behind me and used it to swing around to its back
Sitting on the injured griffin's back I leaned forwards and slit its throat killing it

+ 5 griffin claws
Using the dead griffin's body as cover I waited for another wind blade before rushing in
Rolling to the left of the griffin I swung my blade and stabbed it in the side of the chest

The griffin fell to the ground unconscious before I walked up and stab it in the forehead

Walking up to the egg I grabbed it before exiting the cave
Just as I was about to make my way down the mountain something hit my back

I couldn't move
"Holy shit Elaine! You got her ass!" A voice said from behind me before a hand grabbed the egg from my arms before I felt a foot on my back
"Sorry bro!" I heard someone say before I fell down the mountain
"Goddamnit…" I woke up in my real-life room
After raging for a while I calmed down and decided to just try and figure out who killed me

So today I was out hunting for eggs on the northern Pathos mountain range when after getting an egg I was hit by a paralysis spell before having my eggs stolen and me being kicked off the edge killing me!

There was a whole thread of people complaining about these PKers, from this thread I have started to make a profile of the perpetrators
First their names are Elaine and Dylan, a group of female players consisting of one mage and one swordsman. Their favourite tactic is to use us waiting for the victim to get an egg before using a status effect move to incapacitate their victim before pushing them off the edge of their favourite hunting grounds, the northern Pathos mountain range which is just west to emerald city

Finally being logged in I wanted to get revenge as fast as I could, making my way up the mountains I was hyper focused looking for any trace of the killers
And eventually I found my first track, the body of someone who was pushed of the edge, it looked relatively recent. So I climbed the cliff and started searching for foot prints
Eventually I noticed an indent in a patch of grass making a path to another area, going through the grass I caught a glimpse of smoke in the distance
Reaching the source of the smoke I see two girls sitting by a campfire laughing while making mocking expressions
"We hit them hard didn't we Elaine!" I recognized the voice
"Hell yeah! We're even ranked in the thousands already! If we keep going like this we should be able to get into the hundreds before the event ends!" The second girl said with a much more gentler tone then the other
I snuck behind the Elaine girl before jumping out of the bushes and landing on her
"Wha-!" Is all she managed to blurt out before I drove my shortsword through her head

"You-!" The other girl said in shock before she pulled out a battle axe
She swung horizontally before I crouched below her axe blade in response. I bursted forwards and slashed at her, she managed to dodge my strike but not entirely as I had managed to scratch her causing blood to trickle down her side and her to grunt in pain while stumbling to the side for a second before collecting herself

Although it was a visually minor hit it took out the majority of her health bar
"What the fuck!" She said looking at her health
As she was disoriented by her health bar I dashed forward again this time landing a finishing blow

I collected all the eggs they had on them and made my way back to town
Sitting at a chair in the Cafe I sighed
"Well, not my grand plan of stealing the show but placed in the thousands compared to my place in the hundreds of millions… I'd say it's pretty good!" I stretched while yawning
"Hey master!!" Dragapi came running down the stairs
"Sup" I gave her a little wave
"What's up with all the eggs?" She asked
"Oh I need them for something, you probably wouldn't get it" the system had a function that would automatically censor anything that involves the game being… well… a game.
"Weeellllll… if you need eggs would you mind taking these?" She reached into her hair and pulled out 5 dark red eggs
"…" I stood mouth agape
"I have to lay them every couple hundred years but since they're not fertilized they're just taking up space, so I'd like you to have them" she handed me the eggs
