Chapter 25: Spider Friends
“Okay. Thank you, dear Kitty.” I smiled graciously, but when Emanuel turned around in his chair, his back to me, my face fell, as I realized that Emanuel was done with me. Without so much as a “farewell” or “nice seeing you.”
No… surely, something was not quite right about this entire exchange. And what I had hoped would be something very memorable and meaningful, ended up leaving me feeling even more confused and fearful than I had ever been.
Reluctantly, I picked up my belongings, and trudged back to… where? The Holy Sanhedrin’s meeting spot? Home with Father?
Nevertheless, I made my way to my father’s house, for I had nowhere else to go, really.
I had nearly forgotten how many flights of stairs it took, once I arrived to the holy building. But I had also forgotten how beautiful and scenic the greenery was, as I passed garden pathways and mounds of many trees.
