Chapter 35: Out in the Cold
Muttering a quick prayer solemnly, I opened the gift, the secret, that had been presented for my eyes, alone.
And when I saw its contents, I wasn’t sure whether to feel overwhelmed with excitement or with disappointment.
Each time I rolled the individual stones through my hands brought a new revelation. And for the first time in my life, I knew in my soul that God had not abandoned me.
Emerald, amethyst, sapphire – surely these things had been signs from God, a means of holding on to all that I held dear and true in life? For, however much I ached, however little I believed that anything in life truly mattered…these newly found jewels, these precious gemstones, brought such light and life to me, because they existed as symbols for the ever after, and beyond.
“I am here for You, Lord,” I breathed, hoping He could hear me, faithfully. “All I ask is that You send me first.”
