Vatican Nights

	Nodding in approval, Emanuel prodded on.  “I don’t mean to pry, really.  I was just curious.  Genuinely.  We don’t have to discuss this topic any further if you don’t wish to.”


	Both of us had stopped walking, to talk quietly in the hallway before entering the Sanhedrin meeting room at the Vatican once more.


	“Well…” Feeling flustered, I brushed my hands quickly to my face.  “We can discuss anything you like, really.  As long as it makes you comfortable.”


	Silence, I was met with – but not exactly an uncomfortable one.  With each moment that passed, I could feel even further intensity coming from Emanuel.


	“Why would I want to commit my life to being single forever?  I may not have exactly been in a whole lot of relationships, but I do know from the few ones I’ve been in that romance is a true treasure from above that cannot be replaced.”


	My eyes twinkling graciously, I leaned over in the hopes that we would share in something special like a kiss.
