Dancing Through Mist

Leo clutched Felicity's arm and yanked her to look at his eyes. Felicity could see the wavering words in his eyes, and Felicity steeled up the little strength she had left in her body. She wasn't going to last in these conditions as everyone was doing their best to survive.

With their new blade pulsing with life between them, she felt powerful with the surge of energy that was blasting up and down her arm. She couldn't control it. Felicity knew that she would be able to wield the sword on her own. Maybe that was why Leo was by her side.

Medina and Beau broke from underwater, and Medina didn't waste a moment before screaming, "Retreat!"

Felicity couldn't move her feet no matter how hard she tried, and she glanced down to realize that the raures were nipping at her feet. Her stomach dropped, but luckily her feet were protected since the suit was full on that came with shoes as well. Retractable and adjustable at that.

Technology was rising to a new level, and it still continued to blow her mind. But this was at the caliber of making or breaking the internet which was why the government probably kept it under wraps.

If such information got out that they were dealing with otherworldly creatures with advanced technology, it would blow minds.

Felicity shook her legs, but they were doing nothing to shake off the raures brimming underneath, waiting to strike at the right moment. Leo brought Felicity closer to him, and he did his best trying to swim or rather haul their way over to Medina and the rest of the crew.

From their current standpoint, she and Leo were closest to the mutant creature that was still taking its time to rise out of the water with Ren and Ethan next. Tatum took Melissa under his arm to her out of the way over to Beau who was already getting ready to shoot the huge raure.

It didn't take long until the mutant raure became hostile. Felicity wasn't sure she was expecting, but she wasn't expecting for the raure to charge forth at them. All her instincts wanted to make her run away, but she stood her ground, grasping the hilt of their conjoined sword tightly, stubborn and not letting go.

Ren and Ethan were shooting at the creature, but the bullets didn't seem to have an effect on the body. The bullets went straight through one end and out of the other. From where they were standing, the body of the raure looked to be soft, but it couldn't be. There was no damage made.

Medina was yelling out orders per usual, but Felicity watched the creature carefully, taking in its movement that seemed to only quicken when the moody clouds were in the way. Every now and then, the moon would peek out, and the raures would become more timid.

The blue blood of a raure was nowhere to be seen which normally came after a hit was done on the creature. Felicity turned to Leo, frantically. The light blue glow of the ribcage was huge to match the proportion of the raure illuminated the area, and the blue cast made Leo's eyes burn a brighter hue.

The raure practically flew at Ren, and the bullets that hit the raure were swallowed by the jelly-like body structure. Before the raure was able to get Ren into his mouth, Ethan unsheathed his tiny dagger and began repeatedly stabbing the creature eventually evoking a reaction out of it.

Going back into real-time, Felicity needed to get a grip on herself. Leo grabbed onto Felicity's sword which got her attention. She jerked back in shock. What was he doing? Doesn't it feel painful just to hold the sword?

She looked up in confusion, the cold winds hitting their faces. Medina and the rest were fighting those underwater while trying to get over to the soldiers that were on their only little island. There was no choice. Their opponent was the formidable fore in front of them.

There was a pause. Their eyes met. Felicity turned away, and a soft hum emanated from the swords. Their blades fused together, and Felicity gasped while Leo frowned when a blue mist ran over the metal.

The sword itself wasn't glowing, but the soft glow seemed tangible and floating just above their swords. Felicity lifted her head and nodded at Leo knowing his silent words.

They needed to move. And they would have to fight as one. In one breath. As one person. They both yelled as they charged towards the raure.

They were following the motions blindly, wielding the sword as best as they could, but Felicity felt stronger than ever. It was quite freeing. Her body was tightly curved to Leo's, and his chin rested on top of her head as they got closer to their main mission.

Raures underneath broke apart and shattered as the sword worked its way through. All contact with the sword had a harsh reaction. The dark waves were ominous as they swirled.

The sky was lit up with dancing colors. It was time for their dance.
