Trouble at the Gates

Ein suggested that both Nayta and Melina act as his wives. Although he had no idea if polygamy was approved by the elven community, it was the most efficient way to prevent other troubles.

He was only thinking of protecting the two from unwanted attention but forgot to take his own safety into consideration. If the other men knew that he was "married" to two beautiful elves, then Ein would probably be unable to walk safely around town.

Nayta and Melina thought for a moment. Although elves do not actually practice polygamy, there are still those who do so. The two aren't that unfamiliar with the practice, as the grand elder of their previous settlement actually had five wives.

"Alright, let's go with that." Melina quickly took this chance and picked the ring with a small green gem embedded in it. She quickly fitted it on her left ring finger and stared at it happily.

"I-If that's what Lord—I mean, Rain—wants, then we'll follow your command," Nayta said while slightly blushing. She took the other ring with the yellow gem on it and wore it on her ring finger.

After seeing the two select their choices, which coincidentally matched the color of their hair, Ein nodded and wore the two rings on his left hand's middle and ring fingers. Since Ein was the type who doesn't wear accessories, he closed and opened his left hand until he got used to the weird sensation of wearing the rings.

...

After resting for about an hour, the three resumed their travel. This time, the wolves were traveling at half their speed while maximizing the comfort of their riders. The beaten path that they were on changed into a properly maintained pebble road.

When the group passed a large clearing near another stream, they decided to start setting up camp before the sun completely set. Ein, with the power of the dungeon core (portable), quickly bought cheap tents for each of them. He easily set them up in a few minutes.

Nayta and Melina gathered firewood and some fruits and berries from somewhere nearby. As they started the fire, it was already getting dark. The two ate the jerky they brought together with the fruits they picked. Although they offered Ein his share, since he doesn't need to eat, he politely refused. If there were any other groups with them, then maybe he would pretend to eat, but given that they were the only ones around, he chose not to.

After eating, Nayta asked about the guarding shifts, but since the wolves were there, there was no need for them to stay up late standing guard.

The two elves entered the large tent and went to sleep. Ein entered the small tent opposite the large tent and was just lying down, waiting for time to pass as he closed his eyes.

Uneventfully, morning came. Ein, who was absent-mindedly staring at the roof of his tent, heard something going pitter-patter. Curious, Ein peeked outside the tent.

There, he saw two fairies frolicking by the side of the stream. The two were definitely wearing nothing as they washed their bodies with the stream's water. The faint light of the rising sun was reflecting off the surface of the stream, creating an ephemeral but flesh-colored scene.

"..."

Ein quietly observed for a few more seconds before he quietly returned to his tent. Feelings of joy and guilt were wrestling inside his mind, but in the end, he just decided to keep the scene somewhere in the depths of his heart as he kept quiet about it.

...

The second day of traveling was as smooth sailing as the first. A little after noon, they were already approaching the gates of the large city. Although there were not many that came from the same direction as them, there were a few carriages that joined them at the fork in the road.

In front of the over-five-meter gate, two long lines were formed. One for carriages and another for travelers on foot. Ein and the others quickly dismounted from their wolves before lining up in the latter lane. Gazes from all around were pointed toward the three.

A group of three elves was lining up to enter the city. What's more, of the three, two were incredible beauties. Even the guards doing the inspection on the carriages couldn't help but glance at them once in a while. Some were looking at the large wolves that were used by them as mounts, mostly with fear and awe.

As the line was moving slowly, a carriage suddenly rushed in. Looking at the gorgeous design and the coat of arms painted on its side, it was obviously a noble's carriage. It just went straight without stopping as it passed the gate. After passing the gate, however, the carriage suddenly stopped. The door of the carriage was opened, and a pig walked down. He was as wide as he was tall.

A few dozen guards came from somewhere and escorted the pig toward the line of people. Ein more or less already knows how this situation will flow. With his knowledge of games and novels, the flow of this event was more or less already promised.

"Guards! Take those two b*tches! The noble me would allow them to warm my bed tonight! Gah ha ha!" The pig shouted as he pointed towards Nayta and Melina.

'As expected, this happened.' Ein lamented.

He could probably order the wolves to take care of the guards and the pig, however, taking care of what comes afterward would be troublesome.

"Please wait," Ein said. "These two are my wives; please keep your buttery hands off them," he declared as he stepped forward, covering for the two.

"You?" The pig looked him up and down before snorting. "Humph, not even worth mentioning. Guards, dispose of him!"

'I guess peacefully settling this is already off the table,' Ein sighed.

In his mind, Ein ordered the three wolves to quickly disarm the dozen or so guards. The wolves received the command and walked in front of Ein. Then, after taking a deep breath, the three wolves howled loudly at the same time.

The guards stiffened and dropped their weapons. Shortly after, they tumbled to the ground as if they were puppets whose strings had been cut. The fat pig fell on his back as his red pants slowly changed color into a darker shade, starting from the area around his crotch. A froth of bubbles was coming out of his mouth.

"Good job." Ein petted the three wolves as they returned to his side.

The roar of the three wolves wasn't a pinpoint attack, so most of the civilians in front and on the carriages also fainted from fear. The guards by the gate, who were much more resilient and far from the wolves, were still able to keep standing, but with their knees shaking.

Unable to do anything about the fainted ones in front of him, Ein decided to just skip it and go to the guards.

"We would like to enter the city," Ein said with a smile.

The guard captain, whom Ein spoke to, felt terrified. Although only his knees were knocking each other at first, after Ein came forward and he could finally feel his aura, his whole body started vibrating wildly.

'This elf isn't normal!' The guard thought. 'He's too powerful!'

As the guard captain, he had one skill available to him through an artifact that other normal guards did not. And that is the Appraisal Skill. When he stealthily used the glasses he was wearing to appraise Ein, he almost wanted to run away.

[Mana Amount: 198,437]

[Internal Energy: 405]

[Estimated Level: 555]

[Estimated Battle Power: SSS]

The values were off the charts! Although his internal energy was about average, his mana was abnormally high. As a reference, a normal guard would have an estimated level of 50 to 100, where 100 would be the absolute highest, with mana between 100 to 200 and internal energy between 300 to 500. Even if they called all the guards and military around the city to gang upon Ein, they would just fall like wheat to the sickle, unable to do anything.

The guard captain quickly smiled, although crooked from fear, before speaking.

"W-Welcome to Jurim City; please enjoy your stay, e-esteemed guest."

The guard captain urged them to pass, and Ein and the two quickly headed inside. After their figure vanished from the view of the guards, the guard captain quickly commanded

"Nothing happened, understand?"

"Sir! Yes! Sir!"

And so, the fainted nameless pig noble, the other entrees, and guards were dragged to the side of the road as the entry procedures resumed. It was as if no incident had ever occurred.
