Dragons are born in twins set, one dominant while the other is submissive. 
One can't survive without the other, the dominants are sent to military schools, they'll spend most of their life-controlling their Dragon side.
While the other half goes to Dragon Academy, they'll learn how to cope with being submissive, they are categorized into littles, pets, or simply submissive. 
The older dominant would meet them there, teach them how to shift, protect them from all dangers, and finally claim them as theirs forever. 
Kaiden is a special case, a little who never regressed before, she also never cried, until crossing roads with Adrian, a fiery red dragon.

Dragon Academy

Today we are learning how to fly, this is the best lesson to ever be taught here, I've shifted a couple of times now, and I'm happy to say Chase did too. There was no reason to be worried about him, he didn't even suffer as me, he just shifted, it was easy, his dragon was playing hide and seek with him.

But now it's time to fly, I want to fly! I was so excited, but daddy said I have to stay calm if I want to learn, it's a joined lesson between me, River, and Chase. Anastasia and Julius are here to help us too, River was the best at flying so far, the rest of us were still learning.

/"Okay princess, it's time to shift,/" daddy says, the words I want to hear, I was quick to shift back to my dragon form, my purple dragon, my other half. I saw Chase and River do the same, Chase is a fully black dragon, small and sleek, he keeps taking off and hiding from everyone.
