Chapter3

#Chapter3

Asha-

Feeling arms around me, I awoke to the chaos that was still haunting the bank while one of the masked men pulled me up into a sitting position and when I looked into his eyes jet black orbs, I saw nothing, absolutely nothing and the longer I stared into void behind his gaze, I saw it staring back at me, consuming me, keeping my heart tainted, I couldn’t quite understand this feeling I was feeling or was I feeling anything at all?

I tried to look over to Rose’s lifeless form but he stopped me, holding my face in his gloved hands, he made me look at him instead, was he protecting me from getting my broken again?

/"Breathe./"

He whispered into the contaminated air, his foreign accent and deep hoarse voice soothing the ache in my heart as I held back the tears that threatened to spill.

/"The police are here, get moving!/"

One of the men yelled out and with his warning, he pulled the man before me out of the trance he also seemed to be in and within an instance, he had grabbed me, pulling me up, he turned me around and pressed my back against his chest while he held the barrel of his gun against my head.

I was so numb, so numb that I couldn’t find it in me to care that he was using me as a hostage and could possibly kill me at any moment, because all that was in my head was the image of Rose falling to her death and that image, it would haunt me forever.

/"Stay calm, I won’t hurt you, I just need you to get out of here./"

He whispered into my ear as he moved towards the bank entrance with me right in front of him, his men behind him, waiting for his signal to get to running while the cop cars rushed over, many of the cops had already got out of their cars and waiting with their guns pointed at us but they couldn’t shoot, not with me being held as hostage and for that, they stood by, staying ready to launch when given the chance while a voice came through their speaker asking for the bank robbers to let me go, trying to negotiate a safe way to get me into their reach but the man holding me was not giving in, threatening to blow my brains out, he demanded that they all stood back and let them leave, the police having no choice, they stood by and watched as the masked men got onto their motorbikes, sitting me behind the guy who was holding me hostage, one of the other men rode next to the bike I was now sitting on and held a gun to my head while the man before me started up his bike.

Reaching around and grabbing my arms, he placed them around his waist, motioning for me to hold on tight and then moments later, the roaring of their motorbikes came to life as they rode off, with one of the other bikers riding right alongside the bike I was on, every so often bringing the gun to my head to keep the cops off of our tail and honestly, I don’t even know how they managed to escape the cops but somehow they did it and somehow I was still numb as everything went by me in slow motion, the cops, the shoutings, the gunshots and the death, all of it, it was happening in slow motion and as they stole me, taking me with them, the realisation didn’t hit me until sometime later in during the ride.

And once the realisation did hit me, it hit me hard. I was holding onto my captor for dear life as he sped through the highway with all of the other bikers alongside us, I could hear the distant sirens of the police cars, they were far too behind to catch up to the speed of these bikes and so, I knew that I had no chance of survival if I was going to continue sitting on the back of this guys back. Taking in my surroundings and taking notes of every sign, I tried to figure out where it was that they were taking me and during this, I considered jumping off of his bike but he was riding too fast and we were on a highway, if I jumped off now, I’d fall to my death, I’d either die on impact or another bike or car would run me over, I had zero chance of survival this way and so, for the time being, all I could do was wait and look for a better chance at getting away from these men so when they got off the highway and turned into a road and then another road and then a long while later they slowed down when they got onto a forest path, I was able to catch my breath and think of jumping off, though, I wasn’t sure where exactly that would get me seeing as we were now in the middle of no where and there was about six of them and one of me.

And just as I tried to put my options together, the wailing of a siren came into my hearing and when I looked back, there was a cop car racing over to us causing the men to ride faster, hitting the gas, the bikes went flying down the muddy road, trying to lose to cop once more, this time it was only one cop car but even with one, I had managed to find hope that they’d be able to catch these guys and save me but my hopes fell apart just as fast as they had came because now the man on the bike I was on was leaning and reaching over me with a gun in his hand, shooting towards the cop car, busting their tires, the car began to swerve, always crashing right into us, that was until the guy before me took his last shot and hit the cop, killing him instantly and now, I had witnessed another murder, making me feel nauseous as I watched how easy it was for these men to kill a cop, let alone a normal person.

Taking that as my warning, I let go of his waist, not holding on for dear life anymore, he was going to kill me anyways so I had no business rushing to my death, taking a deep breath, I tried to jump off the bike but instead, the guy grabbed my thigh and held me down, causing him to lose control of his bike and before I knew it, he was swerving around until the bike launched and knocked both of us off and as we fell, I couldn’t breathe while my body scraped across the rough ground but what caught my attention wasn’t the fact that I was about to possibly die, but it was the fact that the guy who had fell off the bike with me was reaching for my arm, grabbing me, he pulled me into him and took most of the impact of the crash, his body protecting mine as he smacked into a tree and I smacked into him.

Completely stunned, I couldn’t even get my legs to stand so that I could bolt into a sprint, my life had just flashed before my eyes and I was saved by the same person who was holding me hostage and then it hit me, he was injured, hearing the painful groans escaping his throat, I turned and looked towards him, pulling the visor of his helmet up, I tried to give him some fresh air to breathe, although his ski mask was still covering his face, I didn’t want to pull that down, I knew that once I saw his face, there was no letting me go and so, I tried to help him without seeing his face.

/"Ok, breathe./"

I repeated the same word he had said to me to calm me down and now it was my turn to calm him down but as I looked into his dark eyes, I noticed that he was more concerned about me than he was about himself as he groaned out an /"are you hurt?/"

But I didn’t have time to answer him, I had to see what was wrong with him and when I looked down at his body, I noticed a tree branch that had went straight through him and was now sticking out of his abdomen, it had even pierced through his clothes and I had no choice but to pull myself together. They may be killers, but I wasn’t and I wasn’t going to let this guy die on me.

When the other men finally came by, the injured guy told them to go back to their safe place and told them to not stop and wait around so that if they were caught, it would be only one of them and not all of them but the other guys were refusing to leave him here and so they had fallen into a little disagreement which was so unnecessary considering the fact that this guy was literally bleeding out to death.

/"Can you guys just shut up!/"

I yelled over their voices and surprisingly they all went quiet and looked over to me,

/"We need to cut the branch from the tree so that we can keep it inside him to get him out of here. If we pull the branch out of him, it’ll cause him to bleed out even more, this branch is the only thing that’s keeping him alive right now so please just stop arguing and help me break this branch./"

Once they helped me break the branch, one of the guys took me on his bike with him while another one carried the injured one to his bike, almost like time had completely raced around me, I didn’t realise how we got to their base so quickly. Though it looked more like a holiday home. Right in the middle of no where near the mountains, deep within the snowy jungle, there was this awfully large completely glass based building that looked too beautiful to belong to a bunch of bank robbers and killers but I didn’t question it, I didn’t have time to, I rushed inside as the men carried the injured guy inside and set him down on a sofa.

/"Ok do you guys have first aid kit? Do you have antiseptics? Needles? A thread?/"

I asked and before I could finish my sentence they had brought me everything that I needed, clearly they were clueless on what to do with the guys injury and so they stood around me, watching me like a hawk as I lifted up the guys shirt and examined his wound and the branch.

Thankfully the branch had went through a part of his abdomen that wouldn’t cause any serious harm but he still needed a doctor because I was afraid, this was worse than I had thought and truthfully, I had no experience in these things, the only reason I knew the things I knew is because I had done a lot of research in my spare time for emergencies like this.

/"He needs a doctor, you need to take him to a hospital./"

Groaning out a ‘no’ the injured guy was not having any of it. He knew if he went to the hospital he would be instantly caught by the police so he was willing to risk me possibly accidentally killing him than getting caught.

/"Just do what you can, hurry it up./"

One of the men yelled out, causing me to flinch and so, I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and grabbed the antiseptic spray.

/"All of this is going to hurt./"

I said quietly but the guy before me seemed like he was losing consciousness and I knew I had no time to waste so I sprayed over his wound before telling the others to lay him on his side on the floor because I needed to be able to reach over his back so that I could clean it and pull the branch out.

Once he was in position, I pulled his shirt further up and grabbed a hold of the branch and with everything that I had, I yanked the branch out of him while he groaned out in pain as one of the other men quickly took a towel and held it against the wound on his front, I began to clean the wound on his back while he bled out all over me. Getting the thread in the needle was the worst part of it all, I managed to stitch the open wound on his back but when I moved to his front and went to switch needles so that I wasn’t using the same one just in case, I just couldn’t get the read in the needle, with my hands shaking while I tried to keep myself composed, I just couldn’t seem to get it right, as if sensing my struggle, the injured man reached up his gloved hand and held it over mine as he faintly turned his head just enough for him to look at me, he seemed like he was completely losing consciousness now as he hoarsely told me to breathe again, he was the one that was basically dying and yet he was telling me to breathe.

Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and this time, I managed to get the thread in, stitching him up, I finished the wound on his abdomen and then sprayed some more antiseptic over his wounds before bandaging him up and when I looked at him, he had already passed out from the loss of blood.

/"Does anyone know his blood type?/"

And with everyone shaking their heads, I knew that this step, it was a dangerous one, it could either kill him or save him and so, asking them to bring me whatever medical things they had like an IV, they thankfully had it for moments like this, I decided that, I would transfer my blood to him. It was my fault he crashed the bike and I wasn’t willing to let him die on me, the only problem was, my blood… may have not matched his.

So all that I had left now as I began to do the process of transferring my blood to him was… faith.
