"Isn't two months a bit too soon." Cyan is the one who helps me object, but she was quickly silenced by Melisa and Clayton who didn't want to postpone.
"We need to plan the wedding soon; these lovebirds just cannot wait." Melisa enthusiastically said earning a nod of approval from Clayton.
It seems however we disapproved we were not going to get through them, so I thought of a safe and easy compromise.
"Can we keep it lowkey?" I see both Melisa and Clayton freeze at my suggestion, Melisa was not one to curb her extravagant, Cyan had told me that at least. "I really don't want to attract too much attention to our marriage, given it will also be too quick for Clayton to move on from Hailee."
"But I never went public with my relationship with Hailee." Clayton reason, trying his best to not curse at me, I know that because his eyes refuse to meet mine.
"I am sorry for that, maybe this will make up for our sudden marriage."
Though Melisa wasn't on board with this new development, she couldn't deny my wish. And so, we compromised on having a low-profile wedding. With a groan Clayton sighed before replying. "Fine, let us do that, please feel free to enquire with me if needed."
Spending a day with him had made me a bit comfortable around him, though he still intimidated me a little, his soft smile that I had now seen be comforting in my darkest times made it easier for me to see the side Cyan likes in him.
The house had been a chaotic place since the announcement of a wedding in two months, but I still was anxious, he could cancel this whole sham whenever he wants.
"Good afternoon grandmother."
"Ah… child, you're finally calling me the right tittle."
Though Melisa's plan worked out fine in the end, I still needed to talk about how she set me up. Not knowing it was Clayton on that date could have gone bad.
I sat down at her tea table looking serious, she had to know what she did was wrong, and she was not off the hock.
"Why do you seem so sad? Did Clayton do something? Oh, that child always causing me problems." Melisa puts her cup down when she sees my serious face.
"That is not it, grandmother, Clayton hadn't done anything wrong" she smiles softly with my protest, "in fact he has been nothing but good to me."
"That is good a great a good understanding is a good start for a relationship." She says proudly, "I really want to commend him for how he helped you and Zoey last night, such a gentleman moves from him."
"Ah… I am very thankful as well." I say with a smile, "but grandmother, I still think it was wrong for grandmother to set me up like that." I paused with a heavy sigh.
Melisa widens her eyes with confusion before smiling, her beautiful face had looked at me with nothing but love.
"I am sorry." She says, "I know it was wrong of me, but Clayton had just showed interest in you, and I needed to save him from Hailee Leech. I am sorry for not considering both your feelings."
Her apology had sounded very sincere and warm, I was not going to dwell on it, forgiving her was the only option. We both hugged after our conversation and she prepared tea for me, and we talked about a lot of things.
[Third person POV]
Hailee Leech a woman known to many as a black widow, though many parents warn their son about her, they still fall for her tricks.
She had been married for almost a dozen times and killed one of her husbands for his wealth. At twenty-six she was already a multi-millionaire because of those stupid men that cannot help but fall at her feet.
But recently she had been having a trouble attaining what she wants because of a certain old witch that had forced her grandson to break-up with her.
"Oh... my daughter you haven't gone out in the past five days ago." Her father, Mr. Bradford Leech, exclaimed looking at his stressed-out daughter, she had still worn the same pajamas she wore five days ago and her hair was a mess.
"Uh… father, you know I am still trying to figure out how to deal with that witch Melisa." She snorts, "ugh, Clayton was supposed to be this cool indifferent man, turns out he is just a grandmama's boy."
"Ah… is that so, but you shouldn't stress out, we are still pretty rich without him."
"Are you even listening to yourself your old man?" she angrily yells at her father, "you are where you are now because of me, I gave you this nice life, if I hadn't married that fool and killed him you would be still working at the sewage cleaning out other people's crap."
"Hailee, I am just telling you to not worry." He sighs, "not getting Clayton Beckett will not take anything away from us" he comforts his daughter.
"Hahahaha…." Hailee burst out laughing at her father, "how pathetic, if I do not Clayton someone else will, and they will be the richest woman in this country taking my hard-earned title. Do you understand that."
The richest woman in the country, a title Hailee live by, she had attained the wealth needed to be so, but once she realized that no matter how much money she gets out of her divorce settlements, she could never pass the Becketts wealth and status.
"But we will still be rich, wouldn't we?" her father asks innocently.
"How naïve are you? I no longer care about the money that I already have; it is the tittle I care about." She picks a wine glass on her bedside table. "And no woman deserves to be beside that fine man even with is flaw of being a grandmama's boy."
Her father looks at his daughter who had turned in a power obsessive woman, he hadn't raised her like this, matter of fact he believe he didn't raise her at all, he was always out looking for another job for her to get to school he neglected her, enough for her to kill without remorse and to be so heartless.
"I am sure you will come up with something, you are a smart girl." He continues to be a bad parent, not condemning her for her bad things, like he didn't condemn her for killing an innocent man for his money.
"I already have solution; Clayton cannot be a grandmama's boy without a grandmother can he."
She takes another sip at her wine before curving her lips into a smirk. She had gotten away with murder before, she sure will do it again, especially when it comes to killing a certain fossil grandmother.
