A husband's biggest fear

[Clayton POV]

Waking up early has been my least favorite thing in the world, how dare that paper work take me away from the warmth of my gorgeous wife?

"Stop groaning you are the one who set up your schedule," Kaleah scolds me.

"I just wanted to get it over with so I can come home to my family," I grumble getting out of bed. Kaleah goes back to sleep as I get ready for work.

I had taken a shower and changed before going downstairs to make Zoey's milk, something I was proud of as a father.

I had moved to give both my beautiful wife and daughter a kiss on the forehead, a ritual I have done in all the two months of our marriage.

I am always the first in the office, usually Cain comes half an hour late but he seems to be earlier than me.

"You are here early," I teased him.

"Oh… Mr. Spencer called me early this morning to change a few things in the project," Cain says, making me angry, it seems Mr. Spencer had forgotten who the parent company was here.

"So, he interrupts my honeymoon, now he is interrupting your sleep?" I angrily muttered, "find another tech company to replace him."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course, come bring all the companies that were shortlisted for this project and didn't get the project, we will find a better one to replace him."

"Sir, you really don't have to, I don't mind losing my sleep," Cain says, he probably thought I was being bitter, which I was but, this man didn't seem to respect our time, why should we respect his.

Cain and I had struggled through the pile of companies and chose the other top four from the pile.

"Okay, so can we call them to prepare their presentation?" Cain says, "by the way Conan is here with your lunch."

"No, it is lunch time, let Conan in and go get lunch yourself Cain."

Conan bringing me lunch, quite suspicious, but I already know he is ignoring his 'girlfriend,' quite childish if you ask me.

He had sat with me for a while and I did all to chase him out, because I had to call my wife and didn't want him there when I did.

He finally did, and I called Leah a minute he left, hearing her voice had always been adding fuel to my depleting gas tank.

"Anyway, I am taking Zoey with me to the salon," she says, her and Zoey has been going on mommy daughter dates lately, I feel left out a little because of my work.

"Oh… did you take a driver?" I asked.

"No, I am driving myself, and I will be safe," she made emphasis of being safe because she knew I was about to turn into an overprotective husband.

"Okay, have fun," I say, I hear Zoey giggle in the background.

"I will send you a picture when we are done okay, love you."

"I love you too, both Zoey and you."

I resumed my work feeling energised, and more so when Leah started sending pictures of her and Zoey in the salon.

"Boss? you seem distracted" Cain says, as I was smiling with my phone.

"Just texting my wife."

"During working hours, hmmmm, I see the double standards," Cain mocked, I had always frowned upon texting during working hours, well in the past at least.

"You are one to talk, it is not like you have anyone to text anyway," I teased back, his relationship with Cyan was still a 'secret' thus I knew how flustered he would be.

"Anyway, I sent Mr. Spencer his termination contract and he requested a meeting," Cain says, still holding back his face from blushing.

"Set up a meeting with our lawyer instead, he will be back in town next week."

I had worked until late, and for some reason I didn't get any messages from my wife nor did she send any pictures of the final product.

"Ugh… what Cyan," I grumble, "what do you mean? They are not with me, the last time we talked they were at the salon."

As Cyan continued to talk, I began to get anxious, what does she mean they were not home yet, Kaleah would never go out this late without telling us where she was.

"Did you check the art shop?" "Fine, I will be home now."

I tried my best to tell myself that she was safe, but then again, it was never a situation that a woman would go missing and be in a favorable situation.

Grandmother and Cyan were home when we arrived, they were frantic, given both Zoey and Leah were not home and it was almost nine in the night.

"Did you call her?"

"Yes, but her call just rings," she says, I try to call but it just rings.

"Okay, let me try something else," I quickly moved to my study to check the tracker on the car to see where exactly she would be.

Her car seems to be in a parking lot of the mall just close to the house, but the mall closes around six, why would she be in the mall then?

"I tracked her car, I am going to see if she is there," I tell grandma and Cyan flying out the house.

"I am coming with you," Cyan says as she follows me to the car.

We drive to the parking lot where the car is situated, and the car is there, but it is clear, something bad happened.

I drive close to the empty car, to see a heavy dent in the car, I can feel fear and anger at the same time.

Cyan jumps out of the car as soon as it is parked. She opens the doors and looks inside; the airbag is inflated.

Leah and Zoey are clearly not in the car, but when she calls Kaleah's phone it rings from the bottom of the driver seat.

She frantically picks it up, "wait, maybe they went to the hospital," I tell her. I am anxious, this scene is not a good scene to find.

When she unlocks the phone the first thing, we see is an unsent message to me, 'Clay there is someone following us I don't know what to do,"

I feel my heart give out, because this clearly shows that my wife's disappearance might be a kidnapping.

As I move from the car, I kick something with my leg, and it confirms everything, "she was kidnapped," I mutter.

"No, she wasn't, she is probably safe somewhere," she screams frantically, "this is just a coincidence okay."

I crouch to pick the bottle I kicked, and shows her, "what is that?" she asked.

"Chloroform, it is used to knock people out, Leah and Zoey were kidnapped Cyan.
