6 - The gem chose me?

~THREE DAYS LATER~

BETTY'S POV~

"Okay, now, what is this?" I asked raising an eyebrow as I stared at the brown dusty book given to me by Tanya.

It was huge and it looked it was more than 3000 pages.

"It is the book given to the special person chosen by the gem and it contains the amazing things the gem absorbed inside of you could do and most importantly, how to control it's magic because if you can't control it's magic, it would control you instead..." Tanya said.

"Wait a second, so you want me to read this book, I mean all of it" I stared at her stupefied.

"This book knows the future and whatever would happen in the next minute, so it gives you a chapter to read according to a calamity that could befall or threaten to take your life" Tanya said with a small smile as she bounced happily on her toes.

"I don't know why but you look more excited than I am" I muttered and she smirked.

"Can I tell you a secret?" Tanya muttered and I nodded.

"The calamity that would befall the kingdom of ureyah happened live in the past but the heavens decided to give the kingdom of ureyah a chance to rectify their mistakes, to avoid destruction and the person sent to this kingdom to stop the destruction is no one else but you..." Tanya trailed off on her long speech as she stared at me expectantly.

"Okay but why would the heavens choose me, am not strong, I am just a nerdy two goody shoes who can't even protect herself from a bunch of bullies back at highschool" I said and she smirked.

"Because you don't know what is really inside you but that is left hidden so that you could uncover them yourself" Tanya said and flew to settle on my right shoulder.

"Okay, I think is time for you to take a shower and dress up presentably since today is actually your father, the king's birthday " Tanya added and I rushed to the bathroom as fast as I could.

Since princess Diana was known as a spoilt little brat of a princess, maids never attended to her even once, so she grew up doing things herself Including laundry and preparing her food.

But she never complained to her father, not even once.

Well, we would have to rewrite that. No princess would wash their clothes with their own bare hands.

As I thought of that, my gaze moved towards my Palm, it wasn't as smooth as a princess palm should be.

Princess Diana, Though I blamed you once for what your husbands had to go through because of you, I can't blame you forever since I was given a second chance just to live as your substitute.

After taking my bath, I stepped out and walked over to the bed, where a black dress was waiting for me with a pair of underwear.

"Here, I brought those out for you" Tanya muttered flying towards me.

The dark dress was simple yet exquisite and when I put it on, it came down to mid-thigh. It flowed from the hips and fit me perfectly, showing my curves. Putting on the black flats I found beside the bench, I walked back into the bathroom.

I opened several drawers, looking for a hairbrush. When I finally found one, I combed my messy, tangled hair until it was smooth and shiny.

After giving myself a pinch on each cheek and biting down my lips, reddening them further, I was ready. I walked toward the door, my steps confident and my shoulders straight.

I looked much better. My face was no longer pale. My cheeks were red from the warm water and my beautiful eyes shone brightly. Giving my reflection a smile, I opened the door and walked outside with Tanya trailing beside me.

"They can't see me so don't worry" Tanya said immediately she noticed that I was slightly worried.

I breathed out a sigh of relief before walking into the huge hall filled with many dignified guests and men and women of high prestige.

Each of them presenting one treasure or another to my father.

Immediately I was in, everyone's attention snapped towards me as I made my way to my seat, ignoring everyone's stares.

I greeted my father the king with a bow before having my seat.

"Is that the youngest princess, Diana?"

"I heard that she was ugly, it seems like that is not the case"

"Yes, she is instead the most gorgeous lady I've ever seen."

"You've increased the people's curiosity and your reputation has Increased by 10%" Tanya said happily and I smirked inwardly.

It seemed like changing styles and washing off those hideous make-up wasn't a bad idea at all.

"Hah!, The only thing she got is only beauty, am sure that if you heard all the evil things she had done since she was born into this family, you wouldn't dare to be sworn by her good looks" Marianne, Constantine's mother, the current queen of Ureyah said with a low chuckle.

Those words that escaped her lips was enough to make the nobles who admired me some seconds ago to shut their mouths.

Well, I never wanted their compliments in the first place anyways so I couldn't care less. Instead, I turned towards Tanya with an arched eyebrow.

"listen to me, no matter what, make sure the power of the gem reflects out of you, it is time for the nobles and dignified guest to know who their queen really is" Tanya said and I nodded.

After some hours, the celebration was finally over and as I stood up, my eyeballs darted towards Constantine's. He looked so hot that for some moment, I forgot to breathe.

"You're in a daze" Tanya said and I snapped back to reality.

"Am sorry" I said as I took a deep breathe, letting the air fill my lungs.

I repeated the process a few times before chanting the small spell I got from the book.

"Razadrimo la ecanto!"I thought as a bright beam of light appeared on my chest before spreading around my whole body, illuminating the huge hall.

My eyes were closed and my head began to hurt but I could still hear Tanya's voice from the background.

"Don't give up, hold on tight"

The beam of light surrounding my whole body increased to a point that people began to close their eyes very tight to avoid blindness.

Then I began to see flashes!!
