The Good News

Henry held Amy's hand as soon as they got out of his car in the hospital parking lot. She can't help but notice the people that they pass by looking at Henry, especially the women.

"You are awfully quiet, a penny for your thoughts?" Henry asked her.

"I'm just nervous that's all. The operation will finally happen and Jayson will walk soon. All thanks to you," she gave him her utmost grateful smile.

Henry didn't expect that. He is used to women thanking him after giving them what they asked for but Amy's genuine gratitude is incomparable.

His heart swells as if he had done something so good that it deserves an award. His face suddenly brightened with his thoughts.

"If you really are thankful, you should give me a reward. After all, you are making me work on a weekend," he imposed.

Amy chuckled at him. To her, he's acting like a child demanding to get an award or prize for a job well done. She couldn't say no when she knew the effort he was putting in all this trouble just to help her.

"Sure, what do you want?" Amy asked.

"I will tell you later," he said with a mischievous smile that Amy didn't see.

He pulls up their intertwined hands to kiss her hand before separating ways after reaching the elevator. Amy went to see Jayson and his grandparents while Henry was greeted by Rei before going to a conference room to meet up with the team of doctors in charge of Jayson's case.

Amy was so excited to announce the good news to Jayson and everyone. Her happiness was so overflowing that she was almost bouncing while walking. She can already imagine the happy faces of Jayson and his grandparents when she tells them the good news.

She was about to turn the door level when she heard a man's voice inside Jayson's room and she surely recognized that low husky voice.

"Ash!" she shrilled in excitement to see Ash and finally get an opportunity to talk to him.

"Hi Amy," he waved his hand as she approached him.

She went straight to Ash not minding the rest of the people in the room and gave her a hug.

"I was so worried about you, did you get home safe?" she asked.

"As you can see I am physically fine, and I bet you have an idea about the rest of me," he lowered his head and put his hands in his pocket, looking completely defeated.

Amy felt a sharp pain in her chest. She understands how her best friend is feeling right now after his encounter with Henry last night.

"Let me explain, please. Will you give me time? I just need to take care of Jayson's operation first is that ok?" She pleaded.

Ash can only hope that there was a good explanation for the incident last night and not what he fears the most. He is willing to wait for Amy as long as he needs to but he is not definitely ready for another man to take her from him just like that.

He has been by her side for the longest time and he will not let others destroy what he worked hard for. "Sure, I will wait for you," he assured her.

Amy did not expect Ash to be as calm as he is now. She felt relieved that it looked like he trusted her and would accept her decision after she explained it to him.

"Alright, here it goes," Amy clasped her hands in excitement and looked at the people in front of her before giving out the good news.

Meanwhile in the conference room where Henry and Rei are at. The doctors explained to Henry the plans of how the operation would take place, who would be the lead surgeon and the members of his team. They also discuss what kind of procedure will happen and the recovery plan for Jayson.

Everything went smoothly as planned. "When can the boy leave?" Henry asked Dr. Correy.

"Tuesday would be the earliest; we just need to run some tests to make sure he is fit to travel. It's a thirteen-hour flight and we want to make sure his body can cope with that," Dr. Correy explained.

"OK, everything looks good then. If that would be all, we will be on our way. Thank you, everyone." Henry bid his goodbye and wasted no time going to Amy.

"Rei, did you order the food?" It was almost lunchtime when they finished discussing their plan of action in Jayson's case.

"It's on its way," Rei replied. And they continued to walk to Jayson's room.

A while ago, in Jayson's room…

Jayson and Jena were on the bed reading a book but paused when Amy tried to catch everyone's attention. Aunt Alice and Uncle Robert moved closer to Jayson's bed to hear Amy clearly. They anticipated what good news she would give them for her to be this excited.

"Jayson will be able to walk soon! You will have the operation right away Jayson!" She said excitedly.

Upon hearing the good news, Jayson's face shone bright like the Sun. His smile went ear to ear and opens his arms wide to invite Amy into his hug.

Amy quickly gave him a hug and Jena joined in. Alice cried tears of joy. However, Robert and Ash seem to not share the emotions of the others in the room.

Robert knows Amy's financial status and even though the operation is good news he cannot help but worry. Amy is like family to him and Alice and after they lost their only child, Jayson and Jena's mom, they treated Amy as their own daughter.

He only hoped that Amy did not do something unfortunate to come up with the money. On the other hand, Ash was anxious and angry at the same time. He has a fair guess on how Amy came up with the solution.

'Knock, knock' Their celebration was interrupted by Jayson's pediatrician. "Seems like you got the good news?" she smiled brightly at them.

"Yes, doctor! I will walk soon!" Jayson enthusiastically answered.

"Congratulations! I am here to do the initial test so we can make sure that you are fit to travel. Are you excited? You will be able to see different places," the doctor said.

Ash frowned after hearing 'travel' and he could not stop himself anymore from asking, "Travel where?"

Amy swiftly answered before the doctor could talk. "Jayson will have the operation overseas and that's if Auntie Alice and Uncle Robert will agree to accompany him. Dr. Correy and his team suggested this because the specialist that he knows can handle Jayson's case."

"Of course, we will agree dear. This is the least that we can do for Jayson," Alice agreed right away.

Robert wanted this for his grandson but at the same time, he wanted to make sure that Amy was safe and did not do something that would endanger herself.

"Amy, how is this possible? I am worried about you dear."

Amy looked straight into Robert's eyes and gave him her sweetest smile to assure him.

"Uncle thank you, I know you care for me and I can assure you that I am ok. Please trust me on this. I will never ever do something to harm myself. Let us just focus on Jayson right now and don't worry about me."

She knows that the couple wanted more explanation on how was she able to afford the operation. It will also be done in another country, adding to the cost.

Hearing Amy's conversation with Robert, Ash wanted to probe more. Even though he has an idea of how it happened, he still wants to confirm it with Amy. But he wanted to ask her privately and could only wait for her.

The pediatrician and nurses then took a blood sample from Jayson and did other sets of tests. "This is everything we need for now. If all looks good, you'll have your CT Scan tomorrow afternoon. So I want you to rest and eat healthy foods okay?" The doctor said to Jayson and he nodded.

As soon as the doctor and nurses went out of the room, men with hands full of take-out lunch boxes entered the room. Amy recognized them as Rei's men so she immediately knows that it was Henry who ordered it for her and her family.

Remembering her situation she apprehensively looks at Ash. Ash is there with them and Henry might come at any moment. Ash's forehead wrinkled at the sight in front of him, the scene is adding more doubts to his mind.

"Did you buy all these?" He directly asks Amy without removing his gaze from the food boxes.

"I-I didn't," her reply was short, not wanting to add more.

"Are they all for me?" Jayson asked.

"If you can finish all of it then why not," she pats Jayson's head before turning back to Ash.

"Ash, I have something to-" They heard a knock on the door before she could finish.

"Come in, it's open," she heard Alice speak.

Amy's eyes widened on seeing Henry enter the room.

"How can I help you?" Alice asked.

Amy panicked and rapidly walked towards Henry. "He's with me, Auntie."

"Oh! Hi, it's nice to meet another friend of Amy's. I'm Alice, her nephew's grandma, you can also call me Aunt Alice," she then extended her hand for a handshake.

Henry accepted it and said, "Nice to meet you too. I'm Henry, Amy's boyfriend."

Everyone: "...!"
