Complete Silence

There was complete silence in the room as soon as Henry focused back on the others present there. Amy's group, Anton, and his staff cannot believe that this CEO of theirs is so unabashed and is now acting like he did not do such a cringeworthy public display of affection in the meeting room.

Amy's face was so red and the awkwardness in the air was not helping her situation. She planned to introduce Henry to her best friend and cousins as soon as he was back in the country but not in this way.

She told them that it was all business between Henry and her, but after they witnessed what he did, there was no way that they would believe her.

Rei who's behind Henry decided to break the silence by greeting Mary who he met before in Bellory Cafe.

"Hello Ms. Briggs, we meet again" Mary looked at him and was now more shocked since she had not noticed him before.

"Y-You work, f-for him? I thought you were a credit analyst from the bank?" Mary asked in confusion as she stuttered.

Rei scratches his nape pondering what to say, "Yeah, sorry about that. I work for Mr. Welsh."

Mary then gave Amy a questioning look before returning her gaze to Rei.

"You must be Mary, Amy's best friend," Henry asked. "I am Henry Welsh, Amy's…" he added but was cut off.

"Amy's fiancé…I heard loud and clear earlier…" Mary said as she mocked Amy for not telling her the truth when they were best friends. The kiss they witness doesn't seem purely business at all.

"Let me be clear, he is not my fiancé Mary," Amy rebutted then glared at Henry who just smiled at their current situation.

He knows that Amy hasn't agreed to marry him yet but he will make sure that it will happen sooner rather than later. He already accepted his fate and decided to face his fear. He will absolutely not back out now.

"Really now? Well, it would be better if you were. The sooner you accept, the fewer questions and teasing you'll get from them. Looking at their faces right now, it seems like they have a lot of questions," Henry whispered to her clearly enjoying the situation.

"Let me introduce you first, you shocked them with your shamelessness before you all got acquainted," Amy then introduced Sandra and Maya to Henry and Rei.

After the proper introduction, Anton's assistant discussed a few more pointers and gave out the schedule for incoming meetings and site inspection.

Amy listened to Anton's assistant as she gave out important details but as much as she tried hard to focus on the person in front, she could see Henry on her side who was solely focused and staring at her which was definitely distracting her attention.

She took a piece of paper and wrote [Stop staring at me, it's distracting] before showing it to Henry who was sitting beside her.

He took his phone and typed [You will agree that staring is better than kissing in front of everyone] then let Amy read it.

Amy can only press her lips tighter and glare at Henry, for she doesn't want to make another scene. Mary and her cousins will definitely fire out their questions as soon as they get the chance. She is not ready yet to expose her feelings to everyone when she herself is still assessing what she really feels for Henry.

She doesn't want to tell them as well the whole story as they might think that Henry is some kind of maniac and they will surely stop her from being with Henry. Even though her relationship with Henry started in a way that society might find absurd, she doesn't mind it for Henry has been nothing but good to her.

As soon as the meeting ended, Henry announced that he booked a restaurant to celebrate the successful deal between Welsh Holdings, Inc. and Bellory Café and Farm. Everyone started to leave the room but Amy stopped Henry from standing from his chair.

"What are you doing?" She asked with an annoyed voice while frowning.

"What do you mean?" Henry really has no idea what is she asking.

"This… you helping me with the farm. I did not ask you for help, what would people say if they found out that you helped me and I am your girlfriend at the same time? They will think that you only did this because we are together and not because we are worthy," Amy retorted.

Henry smirked, he knew what she meant but of course, he couldn't just let her suffer on her own. He would do everything in his power to help her by any means.

He pulled her chair closer to him and moved closer to her face. He tucked her locks behind her ear and got into her face upon pulling her closer. Henry cupped Amy's face with both of his hands and stared straight into her eyes.

"My angel, I don't need to help you at all. You did this on your own. It just so happens that I own the company. Well, I admit that I did take Bellory from Barnes but only because the funds needed for the plans for the farm and cafe won't be able to afford by Barnes so I took over.

Do you think I would let go of a good business deal? I'm a businessman at the end of the day and your business has so much potential if given enough capital. It's just business, my love. I will earn more by helping you. It's a win-win right?" Henry let go of her face and winked at her.

Amy can't help but agree with him. He is right anyway. Welsh Holdings is the number one investment company there is. It would be better for them to partner with the best than with others.

"Okay, I understand. But promise me to never give us any favors just because we are together. I don't want people thinking that I am only after your money and that I did not put any effort into this." Even though initially, she wanted to be with him to be able to afford Jayson's operation, this time is different.

She and her team worked hard to get the business deal that they needed and she wanted to make her business flourish on her own.

Henry nodded and grabbed her hand so they could join the rest but before they reached the door Amy stopped him and hugged him from behind.

"Thank you, Henry. Thank you for trusting me and my team. I promise to do my best. We will not disappoint you," she almost said in a whisper but loud enough for him to hear. She then let go of him, flushed with what she had just done, but it felt right at that time.

Henry turned around to face her and said, "While I like you hugging me, the deal involves a lot of money, millions I must say. How about you reward me with more than a hug as a thank you?"

He smiled mischievously and Amy's forehead creased with suspicion about the reward he was talking about. With the short time she spent with Henry, she knows that with this man, nothing is ever simple.

"Don't work for the coming week. Come with me. I'll take you somewhere fun at least just for a week."

He took his chance even though he knew that this was a critical week for Amy because of the business deal and the book that she was writing, but he still tried his luck.

He wanted to spend time with her. He wanted her to know him more, to establish a deeper connection with her. After Amy signed his contract, they became busy with Jayson and his work. He wanted to at least make up for the time that he was away.

He wanted her to see that he was not keeping her just because of the contract. That he meant every word that he said when he said he wanted to marry her.

Even though Amy already has an idea of what he wants to do, she still cannot say no to him. He is the reason that her ass got saved again for the second time around.

She knows that it would be cruel of her to decline but she also read some adult novels while Henry was away while researching for her romance book. She can't help but think of the things that could happen to them while being together for a whole week.

"I guess I can do that. But I have to plan first. I have to assign tasks to my group so that everything will flow smoothly while I'm away. You know how it works," Amy gave out a faint smile. She's nervous about what Henry is planning.

But at the same time, she wanted to take this opportunity to gain more experience so she could apply it in her book. This would be an opportunity for her to assess what she really feels.

Henry grinned upon hearing her agreement. "Alright then, that's settled, let's talk about it tomorrow and now let's get going. We will be late for our own celebration."

He intertwined his hand with hers as he gently pulled her towards the parking lot where everyone was waiting for them.

"I thought you would be back next week," Amy stared at Henry's back as they walked. She feels a little bit overwhelmed now that he is with Henry when she thinks that it will still be a week before they see each other.

Henry glanced and smiled at her but still continued to walk, "I expedited everything. I missed you. I wanted to be with you as soon as I could."

Amy's heart skipped a beat, she did not expect that answer from him knowing that he was a workaholic. If he continues to be like this, she will definitely fall for him, she thought.

Amy did not ask more questions anymore until they reached the restaurant.
