CHAPTER 123

  Everyone looked towards Mona as she pointed in the direction of Dylan. "He is awake." She repeated, rushing towards him, but Foden and Diane were quicker.

  "Dylan?" Diane called out.

  Dylan's eyes fluttered again as he tried to move his body. The whole of him ached severely, and he could feel his eyes having difficulty opening up.

  "Why are you all calling my name?" He managed to say in a coarse voice.

  "Please get him water," Foden said.

  Mona rushed to the bedside, where a jug of water and goblet had been placed. Pouring a minimal quantity, she handed it to Foden, who helped Dylan sit up. After feeding him the water, Dylan felt a bit more relaxed. Foden removed his hand from Dylan's back to help him rest against the bed frame.

  He was still looking around the room when his eyes landed on his sister. Dylan was wide awake almost immediately.

  "Why are you here, Diane?" He inquired, his voice still sounding distant.

  "Oh, you tell me..." Diane was about to start.
