Alana sat quietly in bed while Ricardo inspected her belly and every part of her body. The man seemed worried, as if he was the one pregnant.
“Ricardo, the doctor said I'm okay,” she said, breaking the silence in the room. The man seemed not to hear her because he was busy caressing her belly. He leaned down as if trying to hear something.
“Does it hurt when I press here,” he muttered and raised his head. For a second, Alana wanted to laugh but knew how serious the matter was.
“No, it was just a minor pain…the doctor said it's normal,” Alana said awkwardly and attempted to leave the bed, but Ricardo shoved her down gently.
“It's not minor…you know how risky this is…” Ricardo said with a frown and sat upright. Alana couldn't help but lower her head and played with her hands.
