CHAPTER 44

The building looks deserted as I approach, all the windows are dark, and I can’t tell if the black-out curtains are still shut from no rehearsals today or if it's because it's sitting under a canopy of trees. I quickly push open the door and peer inside, instantly met with complete darkness and the eerie silence of no one being here. It’s odd to have no one at all, not even staff, but then it’s the last week before break, so it’s not like we have an ongoing drama club right now. They take breaks before holidays and start something new.

I hesitate about walking to the side entrance where the control panels for all the lights are, but she said it was a box backstage, and it's closer to here. I am sure I can find it quickly. My eyes will adjust fast enough if I am quick, and it will save me a further journey.
